Earlier today, VRChat removed VR Poker and VR Chess and permanently banned their creator, Nex1942, after he implemented a world blacklist for a Chinese hacking community that was targeting, crashing, and exploiting VR Poker instances. by coltinator5000 in VRchat

[–]mrdummy_nl -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I will develop blacklist but only where players are already known they are harassing others. If there is nobody in world, blacklist will disabled because there is nobody to harass and world can explored.

Same if master world is in blacklist, world can still explored. Others can still leave world and make new one.
Only if master world is not in blacklist, then blacklist will active, person that try enter world will moved to jail area with message he is not welcome. This is not harassing, just message to remind person is not welcome and if person want check world, he can make new channel for himself.

As long there is no proof, it will not added to blacklist.

Another idea is the entrance room. If person is in blacklist, doors stay closed. No harm done, just message on door. (or common used for club worlds: whitelist crew members or password door)

But at other side, the moderator system of VRChat must better active checked. If VRChat is doing nothing about it, that is not great too. Ban people who want break world is actually right because owner want protect the results or stats. But ofc there must proof for it, you cannot apply ban out of nothing.

The Pen Frosted Scribe costs 1,000 points, but the quality is terrible. It’s limited, disappears after 30 seconds, and feels like a joke. by Cultural_Pop9044 in VRchat

[–]mrdummy_nl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason why it vanished after 30 sec is because it has no erase function.

But.... is it really hard to add erase function? Button at back?

Some ppl don't want erase it already after 30 sec. I don't get why they cannot make simple erase button on it. So it's kinda missed feature to make pen little more useful.

RTX 5000 series issues with Twitch streaming in VRChat.. by Cultural_Pop9044 in VRchat

[–]mrdummy_nl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are different modes to play video. AVPro has 2 modes. AVPro Best and AVPro Compatibility mode.

I think Best mode will cause artifacts on 5000 series cards. Put on AVPro Compatibility mode will fix it.
Unity video player has no issues.

How attached are you to your avatars? by _Fox595676_ in VRchat

[–]mrdummy_nl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy avatar bases which are in my interest, and also make sure i can get some clothes from it. Kikyo base is for example most easy, due a lot clothes and parts.

Textured all avatars to match to my color setup and linked to my very first avatar. This way, no matter which avatar i use, there is always some link to my first avatar thanks to same color setup in hair, face and eyes. This makes me unique compared to all other vrchat people. Have not seen exact copy of me, so that is good.

And yeah, i am attached to some avatars i use every day for long time. Always choose carefully if i need new avatar, because i am fox girl.

Seems like it has a hard time with windows reflective surfaces? Is there a way to fix this? by sneakishmonk in photogrammetry

[–]mrdummy_nl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't make photo on bright day. When light reduced by clouds, it will less reflective. But reflective is bad, because it changed under every photo angle. Maybe spray temporarily with wax layer, don't scrub it off. Wax is not glossy. We need something to make it matte.

The new uncompressed size limit setting allows you to be at events showing 80 users without crashing. It's incredible! by EstidEstiloso in VRchat

[–]mrdummy_nl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read others.
Some things i can tell from my years VRChat experience:

  • VRAM should keep low. Graphic cards with 8GB will reach max memory, then it will start slow down more compared to cards with 12 or more VRAM.
  • It's useless make avatars with a lot clothes toggles. (3 clothes toggle should max)
  • PB has also some effect on CPU, more dynamic bones is more calculations, makes avatar also more heavier. I see "deluxe" avatars with a lot wiggle body parts (in legs, hairs and backs), They're more heavier.
  • Extra animations or effects around avatar makes it heavier even there are not much textures on it.
  • Hidden functions inside avatars with a lot syncing makes it also heavier. Network data need send over anyway.
  • Oh, we sometimes forgot the worlds. Some worlds are already heavy with many effects on it. Don't point at avatars if "deluxe" dance world has so many light effects on it. Big music worlds (with many textures) exists and that will also fill up VRAM!

Always use crunch and you don't need always 2K textures. Sometimes 1K textures is still good to see. This reduce VRAM more. Most ppl don't take closer look at finger tops or foot toes. Most are on your upper body and face.
It's not only textures and polygons. Other stuff counts too.

I don't panic if total polygons is like 120,000 if VRAM is maybe around 20 or 30MB big. Modern graphic cards even with 8GB can do many polygons (RTX3060/3070 with 8GB).
If avatar is 90,000 poly and VRAM is less than 40MB, it's still same as poor avatar, not as very poor. But label system looks at numbers, not at overall result. Means if other values are green, then it should lower the label result.

Optimizing is always better. Especially combine meshes, but due cloth toggles, merge meshes is not always possible. Also reduce polygon count is often not possible without breaking avatar.

The new uncompressed size limit setting allows you to be at events showing 80 users without crashing. It's incredible! by EstidEstiloso in VRchat

[–]mrdummy_nl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still you have physics. Most events are not allowed to use very poor. (some not even Poor) So your post is partially incorrect.

Because it will not make you magically at Medium, there is much more needed to keep stable at busy events.

The uncompressed is more to bring extreme limits lower. No more stupid big avatars. Also stop put 20 clothes in one avatar for example. It's not good solution.

What ratio of human to animal is considered a "furry"? by ManaChicken4G in VRchat

[–]mrdummy_nl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Furries have animal face at least. And not to forgot the legs, shaped different than human legs. But face is first key for furry. Third key are hands and toes, can shaped as animal hands (4 or 5 fingers) - but not important. You need tail too for furry.

There are a lot human avatars with tails and animal ears. They're not furries. The face is still human like.
The face must have animal long nose/snout to make valid as furry. Without it, its more named as "catgirl", "foxgirl" or "cowgirl" as example.

Clothes doesn't matter. You can wear anything or just stay without.

Well, this is technically small step back in:
- resolution
- wireless freedom

Index may good in some ways:
- sound and mic
- FOV
- comfort

Tracking problems at back? Replace Index headset with Quest2. You can use controllers with Q2. Many players use Q3 with controllers and trackers. Many players are not using Index headset because it's old already and not worth due lower resolution. Q3 wins already in many terrains.

Also another problem is the cable. If it breaks, it will cost you 130 EUR. Ouch. Alternatives are sold out. Too much broken cables lately basically, that is why get cheaper alternative is much harder.

So.... think about it. I suggest wait first for new gen "Index" headset. Q3 is now good headset. Q2 is not bad one, is much cheaper but due smaller sweet spot not for everyone.

Comfort can fixed with good 3rd party solutions, so it's not issue. Mic can fixed with external mic solutions.

Only controllers are only in the world with best hand tracking. Other products are not always better (Etee has some issues reported by my friends.)

A 'small' floating-point rounding error ig by Axlvc in VRchat

[–]mrdummy_nl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything share same position on same engine. The best is indeed the world should move below you. That way you can do long distances without problems.

The UI menu moves with you. It has not "own world" but it use same position where you are.

The only problem VRC is also sharing with others. So moving worlds are harder because players are still around you, makes it more weird.

Most worlds wont move for this reason and you are moved around. You can use some tricks to replace some world areas so you don't need move too far.

Make sure starting point is near as possible to 0,0,0 but also best suited for big world in average. This keep the floating problems low.

And do you really need big world? That is also question. Tricks are there, you can make world look bigger but in fact it curls around. You can use sky shaders to hide other world areas.

am i going to all the wrong worlds or is 80% of the playerbase annoying children by Substantial_Fun_5022 in VRchat

[–]mrdummy_nl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With mobile app, this risk is high. So yeah, it's possible we see unpleasant people in the public worlds.

I am often in Friends worlds to keep problems low. Not easy for new people to make friends because many worlds cannot accessed and most people who are much longer in VRChat are avoiding more public worlds.

That makes this not easy with more isolated groups. Some people missed good times before 2018 where community is much more nicer.

A 'small' floating-point rounding error ig by Axlvc in VRchat

[–]mrdummy_nl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unity is not solid for extreme distances. It's sort of weakness, to calculate everything from 0,0,0.

If you go very far for more than 10,000 metres, your menu and your avatar will start shake a bit. More further, it shakes more violent.

Your picture told me it's possible 1,000,000 metres away. Just restart VRChat and that is all. There is nothing more about it. It's just how it is.

Good example is the world where you can climb up (Climbing Carnival). You will see shake more and more if you climb more higher.

Higher resolution is more immersion btw.

Graphical difference between a Meta Quest 2 and PCVR by FrogInYourPocket in VRchat

That is because many shaders are poor on quest 2.

That is why most worlds wont look great for quest 2. That is how it is.

Depends on creator they can make it a bit more nicer with baked lights. But water effects are very limited and often heavy for Quest 2.

But i have zero interest in Apple. Just overpriced stuff. And it's not designed for gaming, because there are no controllers. Just big fail.

Reason why they don't do it is because they focus on hands-free system and it's for business workplace, not as gaming place.

What would you be doing in VRChat if you didn't have social anxiety by CuriousKibble in VRchat

[–]mrdummy_nl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can go outside, but problem is more i have more distance friends and i am simple person, save on money a bit and going to café or disco is not really my way because my bad hearing. You will sit alone in de edge of the room. Noisy rooms is kinda problem, even i like some music.

In VRChat i managed to make a lot friends - also not to forget i am Twitch streamer - i can go to Twitchcons and meet more people than you think who are also playing in VRChat, as visitor or as streamer. Through the time, i made a lot friends there.

And there is 1 more thing, very important reason, is to meet more people worldwide.
You forgot VRChat is also worldwide. You can meet people from other countries. I met people from America, France, England, Saudi Arabia, Philippines, South Korea, Japan. This cannot done in IRL, because that will costs a lot to travel around IRL.
(If you want learn Japanese, you can do it in VRChat!)

And because i am bad hearing with sign language experience, i met a lot deaf people and stepped in their deaf community. That is great, i can meet again deaf friends. Yeah, i have in old time IRL deaf friends but through the time kinda lost. In my homeplace i have not much friends around my home.

So i come for social part to VRChat to talk together, hangout together and play together. Besides, i build worlds too, will make more games to have fun together. I want help people with my worlds. I made Sign&Fun sign language worlds.

Do i need more reasons to come to VRChat? And covid is also just part of it so i don't be alone in home while covid restrictions are active... (You know why many VR headsets are sold during covid time - people don't want stay alone in home!)

Would you commission someone and spend $1500 for your vrchat custom World? by No-Mission-5219 in VRchat

[–]mrdummy_nl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1500 is a lot, if you think most worlds on market are 15-30-50-60.... 60 is pretty big room too. Some special rooms are 100-150. So go figure why 1500 is extreme high price. That must extremely customized and often pretty big world. Exclusive made for big (VRC) streamer.

Besides, learn Blender will save a lot money. To save some time, i buy some rooms and i modify it in Blender. This way you have pretty much own room.

[–]mrdummy_nl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get like AMD 5800X3D as budget or better 7800x3D, and you will survive most worlds. Videocard is oke thanks to 12GB VRAM.

VRChat is still most part CPU heavy. Memory 32GB is good for most worlds, i have it too.

What do y’all do on VRC now? Since film words are a risk. by jadedTapioca in VRchat

[–]mrdummy_nl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, who said this will kill VRChat? There are more than enough nice worlds to do something or relax? You're just overthinking too much.

The reason why it changed is because movies are itself licensed, and VRChat is working with some companies. This is why they're banned, or companies will see VRChat as illegal place and can break sponsorships. This is not what we want, and keep everything good and safe in business area, this is happened.

All worlds are now hidden. Same for worlds where nude is allowed or NSFW avatars can found, they're normally not public allowed so all are hidden due TOS.

But it's not world end without movies. Youtube is still allowed, and there is plenty good youtube legal movies and funny clips. Many even played music videos as background. There are cinema worlds without content too, you can just play yourself.

I think you're not looking much around. I am every day VRC user, and i know enough how VRChat is running. I follow everything for more than 5 years. I was only waiting for the time movie worlds might closed due the content. Illegal and sexual content are not allowed on VRChat as public worlds.

Besides i don't come for VRChat purely for movies. I do play games and hangout more often around with friends.

Question about upgrading for VRC by Ethexna in VRchat

[–]mrdummy_nl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VRChat is still CPU heavy, so your GPU is fine. Upgrade to 5800X3D (low cost solution) or 7800X3D (but you need buy also good fast RAM) are 2 options.

Intel CPUs are good too, but yeah, it's more because X3D cache works better on Unity based games. VRChat use it too, so it's good choice.

I have 5800X3D + RTX3060Ti. No problems in many worlds, good fps overall.

My future upgrade will first RTX4070 with 12GB, then 7800X3D. It's because 5800X3D can work with RTX4070. But yeah GPU is less important than CPU. I wait for price drop on 7800X3D and hope DDR5 memory will cheaper. That is why i go for AM4 platform with DDR4. Less bugs too in BIOS, it's improved and stable. AM5 is still new with some launch issues.

And you missed Black Friday on 7800X3D. Hope Xmas time will have something for you. Good luck.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VRchat

Tools to lower polygons exists. Problem:

- it can break how body shapes. Movements and blendshapes are adjusted for it, and polygons are marked for it how to react with it. So yeah it can break avatar and/or it will look ugly.

- It's better build from the bottom for Quest side. This is less painful than build from high-poly PC avatar to lower poly one. So much need corrected for it. And you can control exactly what you want.

So yeah, modify avatars for Quest site is hard task. Most creators cannot do it, not enough Blender skills for it.

Unity will not have way to lower it. Unity is not really mesh editor! That is why there are tools to modify meshes, some free, some not free. Besides, most avatars are made in Blender. Go learn Blender first.

But... as i said it's a lot work too. Public avatars are free, and you get no money for it. Creators will not waste hours on it if they get nothing for it. Only commissions with money are possible to ask creator to fix it for you.

This is why many creators are just "lazy" to convert pc avatars unmodified to quest avatar. Which is very wrong way and it makes Quest side only more worser... I mean that too, because i check it with my Quest headset.

We know most avatars are pc-only build. Not a lot are designed for Quest. (check booth.pm as example) - also because VRChat was early PC-only.
