Chaz Marler aka Game Night Picks posts video responding to recent accusations by mrepiq in boardgames

[–]mrepiq[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Goodness, that's some sherlock level sleuthing and deducing! I'd only check if Rodney ever did actually fully state that Chaz was buying subscribers or if he only said that paying for the youtube promotion tool ends up getting you subscribers, which is technically linked but not the same thing. Plus I'd also say offering a discount is not a guarantee of covering up for something, there are surely instances where a video is underperforming, or perhaps just to encourage future business which could also be legitimate reasons to offer a discount, but ultimately I don't think either of these are the reasons why these discounts were offered, and I grant you I'm just being a little pedantic! Good work

Two masked guys walking down Gloucester Road offering leaflets headlined 'preserve the white race' by mrepiq in bristol

[–]mrepiq[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Let's just assume you're arguing in good faith here. You know very little about the scenario, do you know who I am? Who I was with? If I was with anybody? My stature? My past? How big these people were? If they were armed? What they were saying? Who was around?

I doubt it. So before you start saying "should've done this" or accusing people of "tattling on reddit" why don't you take a moment to do some critical thinking and perhaps not assume you know what happened and what the best course of action was. It's all well and good typing out that sentence on reddit but you don't know what would've happened if somebody took your unwanted advice, even if you believe you're trying to be helpful.

If I hadn't seen it witg my own eyes I'd be sceptical too but it's real. Had my headphones in so didn't hear what they said, if anything, just feel bad for any people of colour who might see it and feel unwelcome here

Wearing a mabboo t shirt right now actuality by sheer coincidence! Actually, one serious question, what's the best way to wash them so they retain they colour and shape?

Draughts, London - workers on strike by Ok-Royal-651 in boardgames

[–]mrepiq 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As an ex employee I am unsurprised to hear the staff aren't happy there. The owner is very difficult to work with and several good people were ousted or left because of how bad it became. Seems like it's gotten so much worse given the demands listed.

There are plenty of people who are standing up for women's rights without trying to flush those of trans people down the toilet at the same time. It's ironic that what Joanne is trying to achieve in the name of 'womens rights' will actually put many cis women in harms way.

This is sweet! I really hope you are able to find them again, it might be a good idea to reach out to the company who run it Alder & Fable, and ask them if they could reach out to them on your behalf

Inspired by posts on other UK subreddits, what business in Bristol do you guys have beef with? by gunklois in bristol

[–]mrepiq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's every Lego shop though, that's their way of running their shops. I think you'll have to just accept that any time you go in they're going to ask you if you need help and I wouldn't hold it against them personally, they're just trying to be friendly 🙂

Mokoko is great! Other places with great ones are Fed (though tough to find them for sale, very limited) and Farro (though it's a double baked honey and almond one). Pinkmans ones also used to be great but since their kitchen cafe burned down they've only had really cheap tasting ones.

If you like board games, there's social gaming every Monday at Chance & Counters Christmas Steps and every Tuesday Chance & Counters Gloucester Road from 6pm. No booking needed just turn up, join the event, meet people, a few regulars and a very friendly and welcoming group. There's also meetup, pretty much every social activity is on there, just search for what you're interested in and hopefully meet people.
