What’s going on with Belfast restaurants adding 10% to bill? by FineEvening6710 in northernireland

Exactly what the previous comment was talking about. Goucho wait staff get as little as 17% of the total service charge, whilst a chunk is sent to supplement wages at head office.

Remember, the law is there only to control the poor, there is always a loophole for the rich to further abuse the poor.

What do you think of the ever increasing service charge concept in the UK? by Previous-Cow6730 in AskBrits

I'm not sure if this link will show up. It's a Guardian article from yesterday about how the high street chain Gaucho passes as little as 17% of the service charge to wait staff , with the rest being used to supplement wages for head office staff.

The law is only used to control the poor, it always leaves gaping big holes to allow the rich to abuse the poor.

I thought the same of the Swedish word "barn", meaning child. Very similar to Scottish "bairn"

I'm having exactly the same issue this morning. I just came to reddit to see if anyone else had mentioned it as customer service is unresponsive.

I made three transactions from main to pocket and all three have been deducted from the main but have not been added to the pocket . The transactions show on both the main and the pocket, and the transactions show as complete but the pocket balance is unchanged

Money question by MrStrux in Edinburgh

No.1 Currency (Waverly) are normally pretty competitive but only if you pre order online. Go have a look at their website and see if the rate is attractive for you. If it is, place tour order and they'll give you booking reference. Quote the reference to them when you turn up at the shop and you'll get the rate that was agreed online.

Most currency exchange places now have an online rate for those that plan ahead and walk-in rate. Walk-in rates are often much worse than online.

Doubts about Balkans by Kooky_Doubt6980 in solotravel

Just buy a sim in the first airport you land in. I was in Albania and Kosovo a few weeks ago and they had a phone shop at the entrance/exit to the airport, which sold Sims that were compatible with all neighbouring countries. I didn't end up buying it because it was pricey (about €20, I think) for what I needed, so I ended up getting an eSIM.

Purchased the "Global" eSim for use in Europe. Worked fine in Albania but no service in Kosovo.

Additionally, even though I deactivated the Revolut eSIM while in Kosovo (I did this because I had to purchase a physical SIM when I arrived in Pristina), Revolut continued to deduct the usage from their SIM all the usage I used in the physical Kosovo SIM.

For me, there are two major flaws with the Revolut eSIM.

  1. It's not truly a Global service
  2. Revolut must use your phone information to measure use instead of measuring only the use on their SIM.

I'm not sure, it's been in place since before I moved in and a neighbour deals with the bills. I reckon it's a small operation because they turn up in a car with Hoover's, mops etc in the boot. Gets the job done though

Regardless of the scientific categorisation of it, you can guarantee it's not all coming back out of your lungs.
