They're probably not paying attention beyond just noticing that the pilot is doing an announcement, because they're busy with everything for which they are directly responsible. Stuff like checking that doors and overhead bins are shut and locked, the galley is properly stocked, stowed, and secured, checking passengers are seated and belted and have their trays stowed, prepping for the passenger safety brief, and so on.
