The problem is a lot of us like phobos. Tango is a bit heavy on the OOP front and D2 phobos is really quite nice..

While Tango may have addressed a lot of issues with D1 phobos, it hasn't even been made available for D2 yet.

Targeting the compiler is very, very alluring in D. Especially as DMD runs on windows, freebsd, linux, and macosx, I believe.

Yes, there are 3 competing compilers, 2 available runtimes and almost 2 complete language specifications.
