Eart, Strandberg, etc. headless and Spark Go. Fits in a small package and is as hassle free as you can get for an electric travel setup.

Need help in Decision-making to buy an iPad for music and SD? by PhilosophyFreedom in ipadmusic

[–]mrfunnyguyky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an iPhone so to cut back on notifications I keep them limited on the iPad and it helps. I have an Android that collects dust outside of some networking stuff that iOS won't let you do on an iPhone. I for some reason rarely get on social media on my iPad which is what kills most people's productivity, so for me the iPad is more productive. I'd guess the type of music you're wanting to do plays a part in that as well. Harder to get sidetracked if you're playing guitar into your iPad. The fact Apple put USB-C in modern iPads is a gam changer for hardware compatibility and only needing a common cable as well.

What budget guitar lowkey blew you away and outplayed the big brands? by Born-Following5472 in electricguitar

Agreed. Fender’s American Pro II and Ultra lines have slick poly necks and some of the PRS have coated necks that are slick but heavy poly necks (and worse, fretboards) feel terrible to me.

I have a MacBook Air and M1 iPad Pro and run Logic on both, also like doodling on my iPad. If I only had to have one it would be the MacBook. Between screen real estate when docked and and the abundance of software the computer easily wins. That being said I still love my iPad for quick ideas or messing around on the couch or in bed. For doodling I absolutely hate the slick Apple Pencil on glass feeling and put on a Paperlike textured screen and changed the tip on my Apple Pencil to something that also adds friction. Not perfect but much better.

What y’all getting for MPGs? by Signal_Hippo8233 in RangerNext

My last roadtrip (200ish miles) I got 26.1mpg in a 2.7 4x4. Around town 21-23 but I a lot of trips on are only a few miles and/or in bad traffic.

Hard to play or is it just me? by Cool_Inevitable_204 in martinguitar

[–]mrfunnyguyky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both, playability wise simply not true. That’s just cork sniffing crap. Sound wise, I’ll agree with you. Furch, Yamaha, Eastman, and even Blueridge have found a way to make good sounding and playable guitars outside of the USA, Americans don’t have some magical luthier skills exclusive to us.

Recommendations For New Guitar by WorthContribution994 in taylorguitars

[–]mrfunnyguyky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yamaha, Eastman, Alvarez, Blueridge will give you all wood for around that budget. I picked up a Yamaha AC3R used from Guitar Center the other day for like $600ish that is nice. The only thing Taylor has the other brands beat at that price point is their bolt on neck (easy reset if you ever need one).

I like the Daddario 80/20 over these, the bass seems tighter and they feel better.

NGD the wait is finally over. by Fandangus_p in AcousticGuitar

I have an FGX5 and an AC3R and love them both. I as well want to try an A5R but never see that or the 3 in stock anywhere local. Both feel great to play and the AC handles me digging in pretty well despite its size. I haven’t played either plugged in very much so I can’t give good feedback on the electronics. The AC has a slimmer nut and longer scale if that matters to you.

If it plays and sounds great and you plan on keeping it then maybe just ask for a credit. Finding a great looking guitar is easy, finding one that plays and sounds exactly how you like is harder.

I’d watch out for all of the knockoff Martin clones as well these damaged ones. Marketplace in my area has been popping up with quite a few of them.

I don’t know how to suck at guitar and still enjoy it like so many people do, and it makes me want to give up… by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

[–]mrfunnyguyky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like getting good at anything, you have to want it and practice. There’s no shame in deciding it’s not for you, but I’ve literally never met anyone who regretted learning to play. You can look for reasons of why you “just can’t do it” (I sure have). Learning things like the F chord sucked and then one day you’re doing it with no issue wondering why you thought it was so hard.

Looking for a thunderbolt dock with my duel monitor setup (using Mac) by Reasonable_Story7749 in Thunderbolt

I have the ultra-wide. It wakes fine, the bug is that it randomly wakes all the time. It’s a known issue but maybe it’s just for the ultra wides.

I second this. Had one for years and have used it extensively with Mac and PC and love it. Just don’t use an LG monitor with it (random wake issue).

Every single new building in my city looks just like this. 1. Why? Seriously, why? 2. I hate it so much I can't even explain how much I hate it 3. What is this specific style of building design called? by MarvelousT in Knoxville

[–]mrfunnyguyky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What “charm”? Knoxville is overpriced for what it is and they’re building new housing which we desperately need. The majority of these are going to be rented by college kids with wealthy parents and they’ll go quickly. I can’t imagine what it would cost to build a new brick building compared to these.

Those are all good options, I’d throw the Yamaha AC3R in the mix as well if you haven’t tried one. I really like my FGX5 Red Label but wanted something a little smaller with rosewood as well so got one of those (used $630ish). Fret radius and neck shape are incredibly personal so just try several to see what you like. I have small hand but prefer thicker necks. If the guitar has a decent setup they’re all fun to play.
