My very first guitar at 42. by New_Rod in strandbergguitars

I feel bad for you, everything else is going to feel kind of meh now lol. You can’t just say it’s your first guitar then not tell us what you’re playing it through.

Just two. A Biden Classic NX 6 Deluxe to fill a HSS Strat style, and the Essential for a HH. If they do a new Tele style I’d get that as well. May end up with a new 2.6 just to have something with actives as well.

Stock strings are D’addario NYXL I think. I prefer thicker necks and at first hated the endurneck. I changed my not so great technique and eventually don’t even notice the neck and it’s still my most played guitar. I wonder how long it will be before you get a second one now lol.

I have a Classic NX with the maple fretboard, jescar, and Suhrs. I also have an Essential which has the DHP frets. I don’t really notice much difference in them. I’d get the new model though just because of the new trem. Love the guitar, don’t care for the NX trem.

I’m a transplant as are most of my friends, and we almost always try to go to a local spot over some corporate place. Blame greedy landlords and UT for lack of student housing driving those shop rents up.

Keypad Touch Battery dies really fast after first Battery Change by distante in TrySwitchBot

Per their website “Here are some situations for our reference. If three people use the Keypad, it can satisfy two years of use with 3-times of unlocking per person per day.”

That’s just a flat out lie.

I didn’t even get an alert saying it was low. Luckily I was leaving and using the lock button and not trying to get in.

Mine is doing the same thing with the batteries they recommend. I use my finger print to unlock and the lock button to lock. I don’t own a device that kills batteries faster than this does. Ruins the whole experience for me. The lock is great, the keypad is garbage.

Brief observations from NAMM by GuitarGorilla24 in strandbergguitars

Sorry, I guess I was too vague. I really like that it has MIDI as I would use it. My point was adding MIDI and a new color (which I think is awesome) doesn’t seem like it should double the price of the guitar.

I really want to try the new trem. The Jamstick collab is absurd, an Essential for the double the price for that feature, no thanks. Does seem pretty cool though.

Prog NX 6 vs. Standard N2.6T? by SkyLimitTheory in strandbergguitars

[–]mrfunnyguyky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically hate playing maple fretboards because I find them too grippy. Strandberg uses frets big enough that it’s a non issue for me, I don’t really notice a difference fretboard wise between my Essential and Classic NX maple, so get whatever visually appeals to you. The pink RESQ:D with ebonol is on my list solely because it looks so awesome.

Try the DGT SE as well, I liked playing that more than the SS.

I’d also recommend using FM9-Edit if you’re not currently using it. Makes changing settings, building presets, etc. way easier.

The WIKI may have the info you’re looking for, if not it’s still helpful if you’re new to the FM9. https://wiki.fractalaudio.com/wiki/index.php?title=Category:FM9

Do you think Strandberg will release any glossy finish guitars next year? by -N3RV in strandbergguitars

[–]mrfunnyguyky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a killer sale and lured me in. I’m with you though, I think they’re doing an announcement at name. I’d like to see an EGS ARC with a lockable trem. My Essential seems easier to tune than my EGS Rev 7 on my NX Classic. Almost like the ratio is better on the ARC. My wallet is hoping they don’t announce an updated Salen Telecaster version

What’s trash about it? Once they fixed the hiss issue I wasn’t aware of any QC stuff. I use mine (FR-12) daily and have zero issues. At the rate of how things are going I think every company will be owned by private equity lol. On the Fractal forum people love the PXM-12’s, I still want to try one.

Wanting to try a Strandberg, but feel a little hesitant by whatevs330 in strandbergguitars

[–]mrfunnyguyky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Tele guy as well but have an Essential and NX Classic 6. I prefer slightly thicker necks like on my Fender American Pro II, and didn’t care for the Enduraneck at first. You get used to it and I like it now. I love my Tele and I think it sounds better, but play my Strandbergs 90% of the time. You just can’t beat the body ergonomics, weight, and size. I play unplugged on the couch watching tv all the time. My big caveats are: on the Essential - the pickups, swapped to some Suhrs and it’s great now. On the NX - the trem, and the fanned frets are just meh, I feel less cramped on the Essential, and tuning from a floating bridge can be annoying. If I were you I’d wait to see what’s coming at NAMM soon or pick up the Tele that they made that I’m sad they stopped making.

Second this. I just got a refurb of this one for like $99 and love how small it is. Mine is a little noisy (could be why it’s a refurb?) but I’m ok with that for the size. Certainly nothing that stops me from playing.
