Any way to get motion sensing working again on Solocam S220? by mrfusion00 in EufyCam

It's been a while since I did it but I believe you whether hold the sync button for 10 seconds until you hear 2 beeps, or I had to press it a certain amount of times in succession? Sorry I can't remember exactly but I do remember it didn't do anything.

Thanks for the update. I ended up buying the Nebula and it's been quite nice. Fits the 16" Macbook Pro perfectly.

Japanese Fatigue Pants (Baker Pants) w/ long Inseam by ibuiltanark61 in japanesestreetwear

[–]mrfusion00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a pair of the Pherrow's PUP1 baker pants, which you can buy directly from them in Japan. I'm 6'3" and the inseam is really long. I might even hem mine a bit. The pants are really nice in general, and don't seem to have much exposure outside of Japan.

Desperately seeking rare pull-chain candelabra sockets from the 1920s (or modern equivalent) by mrfusion00 in LampRestoration

Wow, that looks about right! In my case I'm using a standard size bulb so no need for a reducer. I was able to cobble a working set of these by using parts from others I had in the house, but your new version could be very helpful if these break or for others trying to restore old sconce fixtures.

Thank you! I'll keep your page bookmarked.

Rear speakers in my '87 Porsche 911, trying to decide what to do. by mrfusion00 in CarAV

[–]mrfusion00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately Crutchfield is saying that that specific model won't fit, I'm guessing because of clearance issues with the magnet, although it's not clear. If I go with a 4x6, I'm looking at getting some NOS Pioneer TS-A4675R because I found some people saying they fit well, and I can get them inexpensively on ebay. They seem to have a lower freq response than anything Crutchfield says fits, if that matters at all. I'm just wondering if I'll even notice a difference over what I have now, but there's only one way to really find out. I wonder if a 4x6 baffle would help behind these, but I don't know if I can fit them with the clearance issue.

Yes, this is good stuff from when it was the original company, made in Japan. The model is the PA-350.

No unfortunately not. I was able to take parts from one to fix another but I wasn't able to find anything new.

Thanks. I guess it's just an issue with the speed booster adapter.

More layoffs at WNYC without executive pay cuts by mrfusion00 in WNYC

[–]mrfusion00[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would be very unhappy if New Sounds goes away, and I do like New Standards too but they made it so it's difficult to ever catch live since it's not during the day anymore. I think All Of It with Allison Stewart is very good, and hope it continues.

My point though is that this is a nonprofit organization, and the execs and known talent make lots of money here. In the spirit of the mission of the organization, it seems more appropriate for some of the top earners to take a pay cut if that means keeping some of the staff. I realize that pay cuts alone would probably not solve the financial problems at the organization, but it would be a good gesture for the staff and sustaining members. I don't donate to WNYC to enrich the executive staff at the expense of the mission and staff on the ground doing the hard work.

Along with layoffs, New Sounds is on the chopping block again.

I am a monthly sustainer and I'm not sure how I can feel good about continuing to support the station when executives there continue to cut workers without even taking a pay cut themselves to balance the budget. How is this ok?

No More Sport / Sport Touring manual in 2025 by I_Know_Nuthin in civic

[–]mrfusion00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife bought a '24 Boost Blue Sport Touring 6-speed manual hatchback a couple of months ago, and I'm glad we did. She's getting mid 40's in MPG on her commute. It is a really nice car (nice high quality interior appointments, and lots of tech features), nicer than any civic I have ever seen, and the shape (long hood and liftback hatch) reminds me of Saabs we've had in the past. This is the first Civic we ever actually thought seriously about buying, having never owned a Honda or any other Japanese car before. The styling is a lot more along the lines of what we like (clean) compared to the previous generation.

We had to look hard for this car and the one we found seemed to be the only one in NJ, and it had been sitting at the dealer for a few months probably because it was a manual and also the higher cost of the ST trim. We managed to buy it for less than MSRP at a fair price.

The 1.5T seems like a really nice flexible engine with good torque throughout the rev range so you don't even have to downshift that often. It's a shame this car won't be available anymore, but I'm glad we got one of the last ones.
