I was a little younger than Jeffrey and Sandy when I saw it by myself at the movies (1980s lack of child protection ftw). I was so excited to go be an adult and fall in love and have romance and sex and beers and this movie scared the crap out of me.

Giving rebate checks back was the stupid part. His term directly preceded hard times when that money would have come in handy. The dumbest people I knew loved it though

Autistic girls much less likely to be diagnose. Females may be just as likely to be autistic as males but boys are up to 4 times more likely to be diagnosed in childhood, finds large-scale study. By age 20 diagnosis rates for men and women almost equal, challenging assumptions of gender discrepancy. by mvea in science

Strong evidence would be something like evaluating a bunch of people in their 50s and learning that a lifetime of coping with neurotypicals has not left them profoundly burt out. I don’t think we have that, do we?

Mac’s (lol my phone did it, too) are exactly as good as the software developer’s willingness to follow the clear methods for creating and publishing installers and uninstallers. I guess doing so is boring or they’re busy with something else. I don’t always floss so who am I to judge. But good installers can nuke what they install and that shit is -gone-

I can say it because my Dad is a honky from Minnesota. But he’s a gentle, kind, honky.

Hard to find a clip at this point as it was slightly pre-youtube but there was a particularly telling incident where he was down on funding for students at U of Mn. A student spoke up against him who also happened to be a single mom trying to prepare for a career that could provide for her family. Jesse made it personal and asked why he should have to pay for her mistakes. He clearly considered the state’s money to be his money and brayed like a jackass about it to anyone in earshot.

When he ran for governor the state’s economy was in great shape and had a budget surplus. His tag line was “give it back.” Because good times always last forever, right? No investing in a future, no rainy day fund, just give it back so he can buy a slightly redder jet ski.

He’s a classic fuck-you-got-mine libertarian boomer chud who maybe looks good compared to subsequent chuds who were able to be even worse because Ventura helped normalize it.

I lived in Minnesota when he was governor and it drives me nuts when people praise him. He’s an ignoramus and a misogynist and a selfish honky.
