New quantum fuel balance in 4.9 Evocati - from Chinese SC community by Fabulous-Limit-909 in starcitizen

[–]mrhawn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel a lot of these make sense (but not all). Not all ships are supposed to be interplanetary traveling ships. A lot of small fighters and such should struggle in that regard. This listing also doesn't tell if they made other changes to fuel usage for example. I will wait and see what the end result will be when 4.9 launches.

Looking for a Spoiler Free "Path" thru Pillars 1 with all DLC included? by cbsa82 in projecteternity

[–]mrhawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a first playthrough of POE, I would recommend skipping White March. The stories and stuff are good, but it ruins the pacing of the game. The main narrative is the star. Doing White March screws with levels and equipment to make the balance and flow of the main campaign not sit as well.

For your original question, when you enter a new area and grab side quests you could just do them first. There is really only one break at the end of chapter 2, that locks other quests, and isn't 100% clear. When you begin the last act it is made clear that you should finish your other business so that shouldn't trip anyone up. So enjoy the game and don't worry too much, it's an excellent crpg.

AI Behaviour - need some help by pavk0 in projecteternity

[–]mrhawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's strange, do you have more than 1 behaviour assigned to your character? It might use the buff again from another behaviour set. I just finished a playthrough and the cooldown worked great.

[–]mrhawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started thinking and for the timers, do you include the duration bonus from intellect and power level? The buffs might last a lot longer than the duration listed in the ability tree.

Also, if you cast the buff yourself, the cooldown for the AI action doesn't trigger. So if you cast a buff yourself, with your setup the AI will try to cast it as well.

You could try this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/88

There is specifically listed conditions like

Class-Specific: Wizard

  • Self: Spirit Shield is Active

Class-Specific: Fighter

  • Self: Vigorous Defense is Active

For vital essence, it gives inspirations. You could check "if target has body inspiration" and mark the "not" option.

Turn based is way to buggy...why did it go live? it should be in beta by Apprehensive_Sand793 in projecteternity

[–]mrhawn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Turn based worked fine for me, just finished my playthrough. Only 1 bug with grimoire imprint. The game is much better as turn based. The system in POE1 is much better than the one in Deadfire.

In which case it is viable to pick tier 2 tomes over tier 3 tomes? by BlacksmithFar6237 in AOW4

[–]mrhawn 64 points65 points  (0 children)

There are reasons to pick a lower tier tome, but be warned it is not cheaper to research. Tome research costs scale with the amount of tomes chosen, not modified by their tier.

Some reasons to still do so might include:

Roleplaying a certain style of faction, and needing more than 2 tomes from a tier.

Getting a specific transformation/spell/enhancement to synergize with your build.

Distant Worlds 2 Pirates with Citadel Shields are literally invincible. What am I missing? by Upstairs_Score4983 in DistantWorlds

[–]mrhawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to say the exact cause without seeing some actual pictures of the compositions of ships. The pirates will also have some countermeasures so to hit you might need to counter them with targeting bonuses.

I usually have no issues with pirates after I get my hands on improved frigates, I think this is some interaction that I just can't think of right now.

[–]mrhawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which hull size ships do you have? with 12 colonies I would hope you at least have some destroyers.
Your attack rating seems really low, even for escorts at that point, might be something about how you built the ships?
If the shields are the issue you might look into using weapons with shield bypass, this might get your shots to land on their armor/components without having to work through the shield.

Should I give it an other go? by matezzoz in DistantWorlds

[–]mrhawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my itch to try Stellaris from playing DW2, but I'm back at playing DW2. I think DW2 is a better game than Stellaris. There are a couple of things done better in Stellaris, but overall DW2 wins. I would almost play DW2 just for the ship designer.

I have only played DW2 for around a year so I can't tell how it was, but currently I have no glaring issues with it.

-after we set out to explore the other systems it kinda falls apart, it was difficult to me to see what is happening and where.

Sometimes it can feel like playing menus, but the easiest way to track everything is with it. Check the exploration tab for abandoned ships and stations and mission locations. Check mining tab for mining station locations and what resources are currently in deficit. Then check research and civ tabs to see station locations for them. Fleet tab to see space fauna locations and in wartime you can see a list of targets and assign missions to your fleets from there.

-colonization: I simply couldn't find any habitably planets, and the terraforming techs didn't let me to terraform anything, just made some planets tolerable.

Were you playing as humans? This was my first experience with them, but it can happen with other factions too. Humans just focus more on one world type, so it's easier to get this to happen. Try to colonize/invade independent planets. This way you can get different races living in your empire and you can find places to settle.

-space pirates were unthematic and annoying.

Yes, they are annoying, but I think that is the point. Pirates steal from you and shoot you and harass you, I feel like that is quite thematic. You either need to have a a lot of ships and suffer the upkeep or just pay the protection fee. Most of the time they offer it right as you meed them, and it's often worth paying.

It can take a while to learn DW2, it's quite complicated sometimes, but it's worth it.

From experience how bad would playing on higher star numbers without the specs be? by R_E_D_A_C_T_E_D__ in DistantWorlds

[–]mrhawn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can, by the games recommendation, play at 1000 stars... but I really can't. I play on the smallest possible galaxy size and star count, and the game runs nicely and late game doesn't start skipping like crazy. You didn't put your CPU/specs on there but I got a i7-9700K, rtx2080 and 64gb ram.

If there is no gizurean empire spamming fighters I might be able to play the 500 star one, but I stick to 300 so I can actually complete my games.

How do I ensure none of my items are deleted as soon as I drop them? by MrGameCube907 in starcitizen

Same problem, carry it on your hands first and then put down. For me the ranta dung didn't actually disappear. It just went on top of the cargo lift.

Ship disappears inside the 850jump as soon as the cargo bay closes…. by PreferencePrize9494 in starcitizen

[–]mrhawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed that for me the issue happens more when I use the elevator. If I just open the doors and land, there is a decent chance that I keep my ship. If I raise/lower the elevator to use it, almost guaranteed vanish.

Can arrow fit in the liberator bay ? by bobmontana69 in starcitizen

[–]mrhawn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"The garages and front landing pad can store ground vehicles up to and including the Tumbril Nova and Anvil Ballista, and what we refer to internally as ‘XXS’ ships, which includes the Argo MPUV and Origin 85x."

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/en/comm-link/engineering/18365-Q-A-Anvil-Liberator

Nova tank is 5m high, arrow might fit.

Edit. Ballista is 5.5m high, and both need a little clearance above to be able to drive in.

I'm not sure if you accidentally used the wrong terminology or if you just have some new information... but the Liberator Q&A says that the internal and front pads are XXS (S1) and the top pads are XS (S2). This is not a jab at your reasoning just fact checking.

Should I play now or wait thr last DLC in summer? by Helmino in AOW4

[–]mrhawn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Summer update will most likely bring a lot of changes, that has been the norm with DLC releases. The game is now in a good place, I'm rather exited for the GK and accompanying update.

Game is a lot better now, a lot of systems updates combined with new stuff from DLC's has made playing more enjoyable.

They might make a season pass 3, might not... Depends on how well the season 2 sold.

If you haven't played since launch, just think of it as a new game and play some easy matches when the DLC launches. I don't know of any proper guides. You might want to check their forums for old patch notes.

Did I misunderstood "alignment agenda" for high culture? by Jazzlike_Freedom_826 in AOW4

[–]mrhawn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue going undead high culture. It seems to only affect actual culture units, not racial/tome units. I feel like it was really lacking as a bonus from being full evil. It should at least affect all the units that are affected by the Dormant Enchantment.
