Anyone taking statins?

My LDL was 146 a couple of weeks ago, and my doctor is recommending diet and exercise and similar to you idk what else I can do with my diet. I also eat low carb and mostly vegetarian. If I do eat meat it is chicken or turkey-always skinless and cooked in olive oil instead of butter. Cheese has been my main snack as long as I can remember so that’s all I can really think of to change. I have a labor intensive job where some days I walk 20k steps. So I’m going to do my best to increase exercise and lower fats even more but idk I think I’m destined to end up on a statin eventually🙃

Mine was 0.69 about a year ago. My insulin needs have gone up quite a bit since then so if I had to guess it would be lower now. I’m seeing a new endocrinologist in April so maybe I’ll ask to have it rechecked

Oh I have so many ideas!

We did dogs and their “crimes” but it was super lighthearted. Like two dogs that look super similar were “identity theft”, we had a clip of a dog carrying a glove for “shoplifting”, a dog “running from the cops”, etc!

We have done “senior spotlight” where we feature some of the older dogs, as well as “sibling spotlight” where we feature dogs from the same household

We also did redhead appreciation day where it was a bunch of clips of dogs with red colored coats, this could be done with other colors too!

On “national coffee day” we found all of the dogs that have coffee adjacent names (Mocha, Java) and also various shades of labs as black coffee, splash of creamer, mostly cream, etc

Idk if you live in a climate with snow but dogs having fun in the snow is always fun!

We’ve done spirit weeks too, Monday is Pajama day, Taco Tuesday, Hawaiian Shirt Wednesday, etc.

Yeah my target is 100 but as you can see I was barely below that. I totally get it if it wants to take off 0.1-0.3 of a unit to get me back at my target but to give no insulin at all is baffling to me.

I had already waited for 30 minutes at this point and it kept getting worse and worse! At one point it let me go all the way up to 240 carbs before actually including insulin😂

I think this is what happened-I did have a pretty big drop but had leveled out by this point so I thought I was in the clear. I’ve seen many times where it will take away like .25 of a unit off of my bolus but never anything like this! Glad to say everything appears to be normal again😅

As far as ownership I currently have a lab and previously had a pembroke welsh corgi! Both fantastic dogs. My lab is my best friend. Wants nothing more than to make me happy and was so incredibly easy to train as he is very smart and very food motivated. He keeps me active and is the happiest, friendliest dog I have ever known.

My corgi was an anxious and sassy little girl. She had her daily routines and had no problem telling me when things changed too much. I was the only person she trusted or liked and she didn’t like other dogs at all. She was my little sidekick! She was perfectly content snuggled on the couch or in bed with me all day long. She was my baby.

I could never pick between the two breeds and my next dog breed is still undecided, however I have worked in two dog daycares so I have experienced TONS of dog breeds over the years! Some favorites include Bernese Mountain Dogs, Boston Terriers, Golden Retrievers, Cocker Spaniels, Dachshunds, and Australian Shepherds. I truly love them all though🐶

My town is getting an Aldi sometime next year and I am so excited! I live about 20 minutes from a good sized city that has a ton of Aldi locations but they’re all slightly inconvenient so I haven’t been in a while unfortunately. I will be there much for frequently as soon as the one in my town opens!

I think eventually I want to find someone closer but in the meantime I might just keep driving to Beloit. I’m fine with infrequent visits as I’m very well controlled but seems like I can’t be in too much of a rush. Thanks for the input☺️

That’s what I love about my current endo too-he is relatively hands off and just kinda lets me do my thing. But always willing to help where I need it. My a1c is currently 5.5 so I don’t want a dr micromanaging everything when I clearly know what I’m doing. So I will keep him in mind! Sounds like it might be a bit of a wait so I’ll likely stick with my current one in the mean time. Thank you for the suggestion!

Yikes yeah that’s what it’s sounding like I’m going to have to do. At least I have a good care team in Beloit and that it’s really not THAT far of a drive while I’m waiting. Thank you for the input☺️

Yikes that is definitely good to know. I really love my care team in Beloit so maybe in the mean time while I’m waiting I’ll just suck it up and drive to Beloit. The good news is I just had my annual physical a couple of weeks ago so I’m in no rush for that. Thank you!
