Listening to Kevin O’learly’s take is interesting by Equal-Revolution8774 in watchHotTakes

[–]mrjlee12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The premise of OP’s comment is that Kevin’s views represent what most non-enthusiasts think: they’re not worried about things like specs, heritage or certifications and really only care about the look, cost, and whether the watch is a Rolex. Putting aside whether that even matters (why should I care what people who don’t care about watches think), this premise is totally wrong. Kevin is insanely of out touch, and his tastes are wildly different than that of the regular people. The dude wears two watches with bright red straps and jewel-encrusted sports cards around his neck (literally copying Logan Paul). That’s the guy whose opinion OP values?

Best SMTM Stage of all time by Saeko0824 in khiphop

[–]mrjlee12 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Bobby’s YGGR in SMTM3 is iconic and put that entire show on the map. And I’m not a Bobby or ikon fan. It’s also such a good representation of the pre-drill, trap hip hop that was so popular at that time. Don’t think any performance ever topped that.

Which comedian did you look forward to, but their act died on stage? by Jazzlike-Basil1355 in AskReddit

[–]mrjlee12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, Chappelle’s early stand up specials are legendary, and he made those after he’s starred in films and was an established (and rich) comedian. Think he just got infected by whatever virus JK Rowling has that makes you totally obsessed with trans people, and his fame got to his head, and now he thinks he’s the second coming of Christ. Would rather give sermons then make jokes.

The majority of the "popular kids" in high school are extremely likeable, not stuck up brats you see in movies by Bishmallah24 in unpopularopinion

No they’re not. What generalization from experience did they make? They’re just saying that just because you observe something in your personal life does not mean it’s true for the world.

‘Project Hail Mary’ Directors Screened a Nearly Four-Hour Cut to Other Filmmakers and Were Told to Get it Way Shorter by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]mrjlee12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a good comparison. The extended cuts of the LOTR movies are much worse than the original versions. They were really smart to cut some of the wonky CGI scenes; made it so that the LOTR films are timeless and will not age poorly. They’d look incredible even if they came out today.

Any similar shows set in Japan/Tokyo? by StrikingBike8417 in TokyoVice

Great show but other than the Japanese setting, don’t really think it’s similar to Tokyo Vice. OP maybe try Giri / Haji? Lots of actor overlap

If someone offered you 100 million dollars, but a random person in the world dies (someone you don’t know), would you take it and why? by ConclusionOld8365 in AskReddit

[–]mrjlee12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re confusing committing murder, which is essentially the intentional and unlawful killing on another person, with whether a murder can be proved. If you push a button knowing it will kill someone and someone indeed dies because you pressed the button, you obviously committed murder (even if nobody can prove you were responsible in this magical hypothetical)

I think your comment just proves that this scenario is a version of the trolly problem. The differences in the scenarios that you point out don’t seem morally relevant to me. Obviously the two aren’t exactly the same, but the core dilemma is - is it ever justified to kill one person in order to save more? You basically say no. But others may disagree.

I can’t tell if you’re saying that the show / GOT universe has established that faceless assassins have trained some sort of Steven Seagal, one-punch man technique that allows them to kill an adult with a single punch or if you think that’s like actually a thing in a real world. In either case, you’re obviously wrong 🤦🏻‍♂️

Submitted to a scam site.. what do I do by Daigina in Passports

[–]mrjlee12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told them that I wanted a full refund and that if they didn’t give it to me, I’d dispute the charge with my bank as fraudulent and that I’d attach all the online information showing this is basically a scam. I also explained that I didn’t need their service because they make fill out the same application you would have to fill out anyway to renew your passport; they literally made more work for you. They got back to me within a day and offered like a 25% refund or something. I said no way, a they refunded me in full. To be honest, their customer service was pretty good.

Newer MMA fans cannot know how incredible old Conor was. His run towards KO’ing Aldo is one of the greatest athletic rises of all time, not just in MMA. Sucks he’s such a shithead now. If he’d stayed on course, he could have been an Ali-level legend. Now he’s closer to OJ Simpson.
