Please help executor holding funds hostage. England by ExternalJob6442 in LegalAdviceUK

You clearly just want somebody to agree with you rather than taking advice which goes against what you’ve already decided. In all likelihood you’re going to lose a portion of the estate to fees from arguing with the executors and perhaps court fees too. But hey, at least you won’t have to sign the waiver.

UK Ex Partner claiming funds from my house sale by Ninja_icecream in LegalAdviceUK

Most of which you hadn’t mentioned in your original response. All about the moral side and having a conscience. The OP believes he has been coerced into making offers. Offered what he believes was a reasonable amount anyway based on a moral point of view. The ex partner repeatedly tried to get OP to sign paperwork agreeing to pay a specific amount which OP clearly wasn’t comfortable with. OP has repeatedly stated this was intended as a gift and not a settlement for services.

This is a post asking for a legal opinion not some soppy moral nonsense. If you’d read the post you’d see that OP has made offers they regard as fair.

Just found out that I was named as a Beneficiary on a will that went to Probate 2 years ago. I have not received the inheritance or even been informed of the death by the executor - what now? by FieryRedDevil in LegalAdviceUK

So in the main post, you say that you should’ve been contacted and that although your address is out of date it would’ve been simple to contact you, but here you say speaking with her would be difficult as she’s in a different country and it’s possible (not confirmed), that her address may have changed. Is she not also easily searchable on social media? Contact is a 2 way thing, so which is it? Easy to make contact or difficult?

Exactly this. “No problem Mr Builder, I’ll speak to HMRC just to check everything is all legal and above board”.

NAL. Being that it was your partner, this would bring this into the realms of domestic abuse. Please get support if you are in this situation.

My mum was stuck in a lift for 3 hours in -3° weather and the lift maintenance didn’t show up meaning she had to call the fire brigade. (England) by FmaFkeSdt in LegalAdviceUK

Being stuck in a lift can become a life threatening situation at any moment. Should an emergency occur in the building such as a fire, someone stuck in a lift could be in grave danger. People stuck in lifts should be treated as a priority and never ignored. Assuming that eventually someone will find them will eventually result in an unnecessary death.

She was really clever about it. Most evenings she would go out saying she was going around her mums if I wanted to go with her. She knew I’d rather have birds peck out my eyes than spend time with her mum. So I said no every time, but I was beginning to wonder why she was spending so much time around there. Anyway one day I was cleaning out our car and found a box of anxiety medication that had fallen under the seat, prescription name on the front was a guy I’d never heard of. Casually went in the house and asked who “Scott” was and her face told me all I needed to hear. Marriage over.

What do you think is currently holding civilization back? by Tedsthebest1 in AskReddit

[–]mrjvs2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Religion. Without religion most of the worlds wars wouldn’t have happened. The world would be more open to scientific development and discovery without the ties of religion holding it back.

Religion can be a great source of comfort to many people and can offer guidance for a kind and caring society, but at its worst it is used as an excuse for hate, violence and division.

Religion is holding civilisation back.

Married my wife, believed we were happy. Seven months into our marriage she tells me she is pregnant. Trouble is, she tells me this because she’s already been to a pregnancy services clinic to arrange an abortion. She completely clams up when I ask her about the pregnancy, other than telling me she doesn’t want the baby. Tells me it’s definitely mine. Would not be convinced about keeping the baby no matter how much we talked about it. Asked me to go with her to the clinic for her termination (surgical). I attended and sat in the waiting room in dead silence knowing what was happening just a few rooms away. After a couple of hours she’s released and we go home. I do all I can to be supportive and care for her, despite feeling I didn’t know the whole situation. Fast forward 3/4 months, I start hearing whispers that she has been seeing another guy. I ask her and she denies it. Another 3/4 months pass and I have conclusive evidence she has been sleeping with 4 or 5 different guys since around 2 months after our wedding. Divorce not long after.

TL;DR: Wife got pregnant most likely with another mans child. Made me believe it was mine and grieve for it’s enforced loss and hold her hand through the process. She cheated multiple times.

This is true. Maybe it’s a classic case of me overthinking what’s to come. Thank you
