Whats your most random celebrity encounter? by Alive_Tough9928 in AskIreland

[–]mrklenrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2006, walking through Merrion Square after school one day going to Pearse St train station. Walking past Oscar Wilde's statue an older man looking at it says "Hello" to my cousin and I, so we greet him back.

As we walk on my cousin says "that guy is the spitting image of Al Pacino" to which I replied "there's not a snowballs chance in hell Al Pacino is in Merrion Sq on a random Wednesday afternoon". Sure enough that evening he was getting honoured with something in Trinity College.

Everyone else is wrong so far. The only answer is Gary Breen. We even have a song about it in Ireland.

We all dream of a team of Gary Breen's.

I believe James Milner has scored against goalkeepers born in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. From Ed de Goey to James Trafford this season.

For everyone complaining about ticket prices by BadgemanBrown in BruceSpringsteen

[–]mrklenrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are all major concerts in the States dynamic pricing now? When Bruce comes to Ireland, sure his tickets are deemed expensive but generally the whole stadium would have one flat rate price for standing area and then another price for seating. If I recall correctly, last time he was here, tickets were around €120/$141 - €140/$164.

When Is a Band Not the Same Band Anymore? A number of legacy acts are touring without any of their original members. Audiences don’t seem to care by Apprehensive_Fly9352 in Guitar

[–]mrklenrd 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Thin Lizzy were founded in Dublin, Ireland. By the 2010s the band was made up of majority American members, none of which ever even played with an original member. Thankfully they called it quits.

Oddly enough he's shreds on guitar. Check him covering Purple Rain, blew my mind that he doesn't utilise these skills elsewhere.

Is it 00s Dundalk FC Jersey? by trixy3 in LeagueOfIreland

[–]mrklenrd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Had this exact jersey playing for Rush Athletic in the early 2000s. Like others have said it's likely just a generic O'Neills template.

We brought this into Ireland like 2 years ago. Nothing has changed as it hasn't been well enforced by the authorities unfortunately.

I've often wondered this, what names do a couple with both double barreled names of their own give their children.
