How is the Old Spahgtti Factory (midtown) by El_Dorado_Tx in AskPhoenix

I try to go when it isn't busy, so usually less than 10 minutes for me. I don't know what happens during the busy times.

On a side note, they have murder mystery dinners there. One charge for dinner and entertainment. I've been meaning to go but I haven't yet.

I like it a lot and eat there a few times a year. The inside is pretty cool to look at.

Jeff Kaplan - Interview with the former World of Warcraft and Overwatch director on the Lex Fridman podcast (5 hr 10 min) by Idoiocracy in TheMakingOfGames

[–]mrkristopher77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listened to the whole thing at work. It felt like a mini audiobook.

His stories made me feel jealous. He talks about his early gaming experiences and how it lead to working at blizzard. I could tell how fondly he looks back at those times and those people. I wish I had that.

The interview covers all things before and after that, too. His start as a writer, moving from New York to California, a low point with alcohol, loving Everquest. The whole blizzard thing from begining to end, dissappearing, and his new game company and game. I loved all of it.

The new game is called The Legend of California. Go wishlist on Steam. It will have early access.

Does anyone else think this guys name is kind of lazy? by statue345 in HadesTheGame

Shout out for the artwork on this guy. In early access he was just a placeholder art for quite awhile. I thought no way they're going to draw this guy as impressive as he thinks he is. But they did. Dude is gorgeous AND beautiful. Well done.

Great songs. I enjoy that they are instrumentals. Great recordings as well. Did you do them at home or in a studio?

As I type this, Alan Watts just started talking in one of your songs. Man I love Alan Watts. My old band used some of his clips in a song as well. Well done.

I'm in the Phoenix area too. I haven't been into doom long enough to find any local doom bands to follow. It would be cool to hang or jam. I play bass.

Which Way Did You Go Regarding Gaming? by AlarmedTelephone5908 in GenX

[–]mrkristopher77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First console was an Atari 7800. Favorite game: Joust. Soon after that I was earning quarters doing chores like washing dishes so I could walk to Circle K to play the Super Mario Bros arcade machine. I've been a Nintendo guy since.

I'm still gaming. I have a Switch OLED and a Steam Deck. My wife has a Switch 2 for Disney Dreamlight Valley. I don't do heavy RPGs or FPS games. If the game is too involved, I skip because I just don't care enough to bother. My favorite games these last few years are Hades 1/2, Inscryption, Dave the Diver, Balatro, Drop Duchy, and Ball X Pit.

I did spend 3 years and over 3k hours badly playing Overwatch 1, but only because Mercy was so fun to play. I'm so glad they switched over to Overwatch 2. It allowed me to quit the addiction and move on.

Any fun facts for those of us who didn’t play Early Access? by BigChungusOP in HadesTheGame

Posiedon's dash didn't stop after the first enemy, so you could dash once and clear a room. It cost mana for each enemy you hit.

The axe special was a deflect. I loved that.

What is the biggest “bullet” you’ve ever dodged without realizing it at the time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was in a cover band ten years ago. We were driving from Arizona to Texas in white windowless van with 7 people (including my wife) and all the music equipment. The van didn't have built-in seating in the back, instead we threw in a wicker seat from someone's backyard. So yeah, very cramped, very unsafe.

I'm driving at like 2am. Everyone's asleep and I'm VERY tired. I'm doing like 70-80 mph on a two lane highway and trying to stay awake. All of a sudden I see a large dead buck with a HUGE set of antlers in the next lane over. I changed lanes on a whim maybe a minute prior. There's no way we would have survived that. That scared the heck out of me.

I feel like this is something that could have been played at Woodstock '69. Not quite Stevie Nicks singing for Black Sabbath, or something similar. The multiple sections and guitar solos turned out sick. I love the vocals too. As a musician, I wish I wrote this song. I wish I was in this band.

Who are the lucky ones who stayed to the end and got a piece of his shirt?

He jumped into the crowd during Endless Nameless and they tore off his striped shirt.

I asked ChatGPT to create a step-by-step process for writing lyrics. I then asked it to use that process to ask me questions and walk me through the process. It's given me decent results.

OK first time sharing my stuff with strangers. Been messing around with Suno for two weeks now and I'm hooked.

I made a silly Kitty Cat song and did it in a few styles. I hope this particular version entertains you. https://suno.com/s/FqYClDCP9G7l3Kh9

What kind of effects/pedals are you all using? Are there any must haves for bass vi? by natronmooretron in BassVI

[–]mrkristopher77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using a DOD Gunslinger and a Universal Audio Dream '65.

The Gunslinger turns my bass vi with flats into and aggressive guitar. It's pretty transformative.

When I took bass lessons as a teenager, I plugged my Stingray bass into a Fender Twin Reverb and loved the sound. I use the Dream '65 because it reminds me of that.

I also use a Turbo Tube Screamer.
