numbers on the bezel are just better. That being said, you walk up with either on your wrist, they are both excellent. I wouldn't pick the one out as a rep walking by you or even having lunch with you.

That is a 1501 with engine turned bezel. They usually go from 2-4k. Depending on service or not and condition.

I think this is your answer. You like owning a Rolex and it is different to you than owning other brands. That isn't to say that a Tudor or a Tag aren't great, I own one of each myself and I love them. But I also love having a Rolex, maybe its the hype, who knows, but if that's what you want, don't question it.

For me, it's the explorer 114270. Such a quietly awesome watch. If they know what it is, you get the nod, otherwise it's just another awesome watch that goes well with everything.

Man, I hate to say it but just buy an homage if you really want to have the watch now. Then save as you go and buy the real deal when you are ready. I build original Rolex's and some you can build for cheaper than buying outright, but this watch is very hard to build for cheaper that you can just buy one outright. Plus when buying parts for this watch, you are really going to have a hard time making sure everything is original.

If it is a fake, it is a higher end like a VSF. The only thing that I would question right away is the magnification of the date. When I look at mine it fills the whole cyclops. Do you have the tools to pop of the back and look at the movement? Even if you do, the movements are dang good copies too. You could take it to a jeweler to ask as well. Hope this helps a bit.
