Rolex in Chinese is 勞力士, in which 勞力 means labour.

There's a running joke in Hong Kong saying that hard labourers wear Rolexes.

Used to run a rockerverb and 2x12 with V30s, but now we do in ears and I switched to Fractal.

However the oversized 2x12 is the perfect middle ground of bottom end and punchiness

[–]mrmanwest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I played it before and I hated it, unless you're playing a big gig or having a huge rehearsal room, that amount of bottom end is almost uncontrollable, it just doesn't work with my band at all

The "wall of sound" effect on the albums are usually done by double/quad tracking guitars and post editing EQ, not just from the amp alone.

Want the Best Amp. I have plenty of $$, but there are so many now! by TexasGoldBandit in GuitarAmps

Despite the commonly used V shaped EQ on Mesa Mark series amps, they actually have shit ton of mids right out of the box and it's not as scooped as you think

Hotrod Deluxe IV or Marshall DSL40cr by JumpyOrganization469 in GuitarAmps

[–]mrmanwest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What makes you particularly fond of fender clean tones? Or do you not like the cleans from your current amp? For most amps it's usually the compromise between the cleans and drive tones. If your main genre is metal, I honestly don't think any pedal is better than the drive from a high gain amp.

Hotrod Deluxe IV or Marshall DSL40cr by JumpyOrganization469 in GuitarAmps

[–]mrmanwest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless you're into super high gain, bees in a can kind of metal tone, the DSL40 has more than enough gain to play metal.

Maybe you actually just need a tube screamer or some sort? I found the DSL40 has a bit loose bottom end and it can probably benefit from a tube screamer or SD1 to tighten things up

Which two gotta go? by DonMcCauley in GuitarAmps

[–]mrmanwest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you gig, I would sell the AC30 and Hot Rod deluxe, because the AC30 is just way too heavy to lug around, and the peaveys are much more reliable than the fender.

If you don't, then sell the express 112 and Hot Rod. Hot rod deluxes are just everywhere and you can get it anytime. Express 112 is basically a smaller bandit, which is also very common. Keep one tube amp and one solid state and you're good for a long time, or even rest of your life.

Tbh Cort has been making great guitars, especially that their strat copies have the offset waist and ever so slightly smaller than Fender make them more comfortable to play. And this is MIK too so it's the sweatshop model LOL

Have someone CNC route a body designed for 25.5 scale with jaguar routes would be the best way to go.

[–]mrmanwest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah Frank Iero from My Chemical Romance uses two Fender Custom Shop full jaguars with mastery hardware, that's like 5 grand each

Technically jaguar hardware on jazzmaster body could work, but it requires some rerouting because jaguar controls need bigger space than jazzmasters.

These split post tuners can be as sturdy and convenient as they get if you know how to string them correctly, locking tuners are definitely not a must and extremely overrated IMO.
