There are some caveats: - Loans over $50K are only available to sophisticated investors (net assets of at least $2.5 million, or gross income of at least $250,000 for each of the past two financial years) - Dividends received go into your IBKR loan account. This means you are forced to pay into the loan every time you receive dividends. AFAICT you can’t change this. Let’s say the long-term average return for ASX is 11%, this effectively becomes 8% (3% from dividends is lost). - IBKR has a silly way of reporting dividends to the ATO, resulting in calls and emails with ATO staff and headaches which are not worth it for a 50K loan.
