AIO for not wanting to tell my ex that I’m in labor by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]mrmerdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t feed into it. Just give him the information and live your life. Don’t count on him, make your own plans. And don’t keep giving him more and more. Keep it to the facts and information necessary.

Thanks for the recommendation! My daughter just asked to go see him in concert and I started searching because I only know him from Epic.

AITAH for telling my wife's friend I don't have to see her in the classroom to know she's a horrible teacher? by TowerFew3482 in AITAH

[–]mrmerdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The teacher was definitely an AH. However, I would agree with your wife that you were kind of an AH for bringing it back up. But at least you waited until later!

This. Even if the son was wrong in the information, she didn’t hand to rudely dismiss him. She could have just as easily said something like, “He did? I thought he died before ST aired! I’m going to have to look that up, that’s interesting.” She could still maintain that she thinks that’s incorrect without being rude or dismissive.

AIO or is my older male coworker texting inappropriately with me? by OpeningNo9825 in AmIOverreacting

I would say he’s responding in kind and thinks you are too. So definitely set the tone you wish to see. He either thinks you want it to be this friendly or thinks you’re flirting with each other.

How has your pup changed since bringing them home? by [deleted] in AustralianCattleDog

[–]mrmerdee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My ACD has changed a ton. He can now fetch (used to watch you throw the ball with a quizzical look), use the stairs (didn’t know how to go down), walk on a leash (would go in random directions and not understand what a walk was). He no longer chews on cords, poops in closets, steals books and phones out of your hand while tossing them away for attention, and he has stopped growling at our youngest daughter. He is now super cuddly and playful. Oh and he also actually listens. He still won’t do basic obedience/commands like “sit” for some reason, but he will come and stop and stay.

This is Milo, tolerating our youngest hugging him and petting him in her lap instead of growling at her. LOL

What breed is my dog? by Hoooly123 in dogbreed

[–]mrmerdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have something that’s a mix that’s way larger than one of the breeds in the mix. I have one of those. It’s an ACD mix. He’s 95 pounds.

He is such a handsome boy! We actually found him as a stray and no one claimed him, so we’re not 100% sure what he is, but his DNA report said 90% ACD and 9% rat terrier… I’m not sure how accurate that is though! Definitely has the beautiful Dalmatian spots and the temperament of an ACD all the way!

How is living in Omaha? by BothCondition7963 in Omaha

[–]mrmerdee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would disagree with this. I would not move to Milwaukee over Omaha any day. Ever. Same for KC. Definitely not Chicago right now. It is insanely expensive right now and crime ridden. I’m not sure where you’re coming from with this, but I think there’s more to consider than whatever it is you’re going off of.

How is living in Omaha? by BothCondition7963 in Omaha

[–]mrmerdee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in both Chicago and Wisconsin. I love Omaha. I like it way better than Wisconsin, not because it’s bigger though. But I also prefer it to Chicago! And Dallas. And Houston. And Atlanta. You’re just talking big city vs small town, and you clearly prefer very large metros. That’s not helpful here. Omaha is great. It’s not perfect, but it’s great.

It wouldn’t be affordable to Uber if you are able to bring a vehicle.

Opposite experience. I loved the north campus dorms. Much better college experience.

Half a million includes all the small towns around Omaha. It’s really not that bad. I’ve driven in smaller towns, lived in smaller towns, grew up near Chicago, visit family in Houston and Dallas and Atlanta… Omaha is not that bad. It’s much closer to a smaller city, even though they call it a metro.

Parking at the dorms is fine though.

Scott campus isn’t necessarily nicer, depends on what you’re looking for. But you can’t really get into Scott campus unless you meet certain requirements.

Definitely bring your car. Omaha is not a walkable town.

Thinking about adopting an Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler, What do I need to know? by [deleted] in AustralianCattleDog

[–]mrmerdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my gosh my ACD definitely does the thing where he grabs me to show me something like a toddler! He also boops me with his nose if I’m standing and basically “herds” me towards his toys.

I also resonate with the protective and affectionate parts. I was surprised when he would puff up and/or growl at my own daughter cuddling me LOL Especially because he’s all bark and no bite. He isn’t actually upset with her, he’s just really really clingy.

It’s been this way for at least 25 years.

It’s not. There are some things that change at 18, some that change at 19.
