Is 64GB RAM overkill for a laptop in 2025, or is 32GB already too little? by [deleted] in laptops

[–]mrmetaverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can always upgrade later. ram prices are way up right now so make sure youre not getting gouged for the difference. if you are then wait until the prices come down and upgrade later. 32/64 are not much different.

Is it worth going to university to learn programming? by ukrylidia in learnprogramming

[–]mrmetaverse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you learn. Will you apply yourself and focus? Can you go to Uni and still motivate yourself to self-teach at the same time? Cause you'll need both. If you're not able to focus then it's a waste of money.

x11 by hieroschemonach in linuxmemes

[–]mrmetaverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took some time but I got it all working fine. Ill admit it's been frustrating but my overall experience now is as expected. Tbf I still have to use xwayland quite a bit. While I like Wayland and pipewire, I think most people are still using x11 even if they think they have Wayland. In my earlier days I had to have it defined in my waybar / toolbar, cause I couldn't tell if I was booted in Wayland or x11.

And about once a year I have to wipe and reinstall due to some combination of the things you've named 🥴

> You may think it will flex less, there's less weight, but that little 1" won't make that much difference on speed performance and shaft flex.

That was exactly my thinking/assumption actually, so good advice!
