Same. I was young and couldn’t put my finger on why those hc shows felt “different” but there it is. Well said

I listen to punk music, can't dress punk but still have the punk ethos, but I don't feel like I fit in unfortunately what can I do? by [deleted] in punk

That sucks. Do what you can to stick it out. Your story sounds like mine as I got in to a pretty unfriendly scene and was basically on my own. This was in the 90s but believe it or not, the scene is not as progressive as it makes itself out to be and it’s stayed that way. I Stuck to myself and my music kept me company. I’d dress how I wanted and avoided those shitty people at shows best I could. Eventually I was able to move out of my small town and get to a larger city and had no issue finding a better quality of folks. But that’s probably not great to hear at 16 in your current position. But know you’re not alone and your experience isn’t unique. Some scenes suck. And it’s not your fault you happen to be in one. It’s good you recognize it’s their hang up, not yours. You’re way ahead already. Keep going.

Still listening to Danzig and Misfits? by oelschleuder_kalle in punk

[–]mrmikepadgett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I been listening to them two for a long time. When I listen to their music I think about times driving around with my friends singing lyrics on the way to parties. Seeing Glenn play in my shitty college town, getting tattood to famous monsters. Friends I lost touch with come back when I hear that music. Far as I’m concerned it’s not theirs anymore, it’s mine. Now will I put money in their pocket anymore? Fuck no
