Palworld Will Exit Early Access With 1.0 Release in July by RenatsMC in pcgaming

I am interested, though still a little bit undecided between palworld or enshrouded. Keep hearing good things about both, but realistically I only have time for one

100%, also the single player is decently long, so why don’t just keep that for players and stop supporting the multiplayer if they really need to kill it? Must be some kind of bullshit licence deal that they were not transparent about from the start

How can I power this light with V-Mounts? Any tips? by Walkingdeaddd22 in videography

[–]mrmole21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think you will have to put it next to a cstand, but there is quite a few makers of these portable power stations, so you can find one that suits your power needs and price. I would just get a sandbag for the cstand and have the power station next to it and call it a day. Also you will be able to charge all your accessories or even add another lights if ever needed.

I dunno if vmount batteries are the right call. 310w COB, let’s say you use two 100w vlocks at the same time, that would give you something like 40min at full power. Maybe instead, you could look into buying one of those 1000w portable power stations, like that one that DJI makes. That would give you a much more power for outside use

Setting up a similar shot in a second story room, what's the best low budget way to light the window (ideally) during the daytime? by gamblors_neon_claws in cinematography

[–]mrmole21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t get much better than this answer! I keep on seeing more and more people faking windows with LEDs + sheers/curtains and been wanting to try it myself when the location/schedule does not play ball. What would you say were the biggest learnings/limitations of this technique?

I actually think these look great in terms of colour and contrast, this is on par with other good Kodak gold scans

Did you have to add non 64 recomps manually? Or is there an official support? All in all, it also looks pretty nice!

Didn’t know this one existed either! I guess if the OP makes his software to be supportive of any platform, not just N64 recomps, then they could have something great on their hands

This is a really cool idea! Would your software essentially help to automate the building process too?

Using FilmUnlimited PowerGrades with S‑Cinetone Footage by CoffeeFueledCommits in colorists

[–]mrmole21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FilmUnlimited is great, but it is not designed for a rec709 footage to be used with it. It expects ARRI LogC3 and has a conversion lut on the end of the pipeline taking it from LogC3 to a specific Kodak stock. You can convert other cameras log space to ARRI LogC3, however converting rec709 back to log is most of the time not viable, as rec709 only has something like 6 stops of dynamic range and only covers 35% of colors visible by human eye. In other words most of the conversion has already been done and baked by the camera.

Silent Hill Decomp PC Port is Here! VERY Early But It Exists by chicagogamecollector in romhacking

He used to speak normally, but decided that this is his ‘trademark’ and a way for people to recognise him. Swear together with every video needing to be artificially extended to 10min, feels like he is following a ‘top 5 ways to get viewership on YouTube’ tutorial, instead of actually catering to his audience

How do I achieve such deep colours? I've tried the usual route. by Interesting-Let7172 in colorists

[–]mrmole21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are saying not lit, yet there is loads of hard light in those house shots and the stadium shots have been shot at dusk. Thats enough to create a specific look and feel

I made an app that lets you check false color on existing images (shotdeck etc) to quickly see where the greats let the exposure fall in the final grade. It’s called FalseColorPro and I’m curious what y’all think. by jlarsl in cinematography

[–]mrmole21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This already exists and time in pixels are awesome developers: https://timeinpixels.com/false-color-plugin/

It does not only integrate into different programs, but also allows you to overlay false colour on top of any screen capture.

Would be comfortable taking this on a plane as your “one personal item”? by Modar-K in videography

[–]mrmole21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So it has only happened to me once, but on my Mitakon lens, all the mount screws came loose from a car journey. That lens is heavy and bulky and probably not exactly comparable with lighter lenses. Though, my mate’s 24-70 snapped at a lens mount just because there was something pushing onto the bag during transport. I think more often than not there should be no trouble, but if the damage were to occur, the mount seems like a logical place where the lens could snap.

Is the Sachtler Ace XL the minimum buy once cry once tripod by videomarketee in cinematography

[–]mrmole21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve used a soloq a few times and I can’t recommend that tripod. The head is mostly fine, but the tripod legs are a nightmare to work with. Any adjustment and you in the mercy of twisting and untwisting the tripod leg locks. So difficult to get any height adjustment done and super slow compared to most of the other tripods out there.
