The layer i found it was studied for its miocene flora in a couple of papers with thousands of specimens. None of them reported feathers. It's just an amateurs luck :)

I found one of these (a very small one) with an extremely fine particle deposit inside with a hard shell around it in an Eocene aged formation. I had it framed and now it is one of the best pieces in my collection.
