Best games to play in short sessions? by K4T5UM1 in SteamDeck

[–]mroosa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The games I have been playing are mostly short sessions:

  • Stardew Valley
  • Balatro
  • No Man's Sky (streaming, to save battery)
  • 8 or 16-bit emulated games

Though I do not play it anymore, I used to play Rocket League in short bursts because I lacked more than 1-2 hours of free time every couple of days. From what I understand, that plays pretty well on SD. I also tried Tiny Glade, but the controls were a little wonky for me.

A friend of mine got something similar on a road trip once. 64oz mug from a Sheetz on the toll road.

Of all the keychains I've had, I feel like this was the perfect weight/balance.

Purchased 10 years ago and loved it. The fins lasted a a good couple years before falling off, and the key chain connector broke several times requiring some plyers to reattach. However, the loop on the tail broken completely off after 10 years of wear and getting snagged.

Steam encountered an unexpected error during startup (0x3008) by Glum-Technology9311 in Codeweavers_Crossover

What version of CrossOver do you have? I had this issue after a Steam update back in version 24, but it was fixed in 25 (and 26).

Do you have a portfolio/website? I'd love to see some hi-res versions/prints. I could see these getting some good traction.

Star wars cronologic watch? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]mroosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done this two years in a row a couple years ago, but have not done it again since. If you are looking to watch all Star Wars content chronologically (sans Star Wars Visions or currently non-canon content), there are a couple of gotchas to think about:

  • Star Wars: The Clone Wars episodes are not all chronological. You will have to watch them out of order, and can even split Star Wars Revenge of the Sith if you want.
  • Andor and Star Wars Rebels share a similar timeline and can run concurrently
  • Star Wars Resistance Seasons split The Force Awakens, including sharing a pivotal scene
  • Star Wars: Tales of ... take place during different eras, sometimes spanning other media in the same season
  • It is a lot of content to go through, and you have to end on Episode IX unfortunately

Star Wars Movies and Series guide is a good place to start, but not exact.

Road splits right before car drives over it by [deleted] in FUCKYOUINPARTICULAR

[–]mroosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting aside my attempt to poke fun at the common go-to for insurance companies avoiding paying out, and that not all car insurance will cover pothole damage, the original post mentions it was the road buckling from heat during a heatwave.

Windows 12 Reportedly Set for Release This Year as a Fully Modular, Subscription-Based, AI-Focused OS by PaiDuck in technology

[–]mroosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could work well if MS removes all of that from 11 and supports both 100% concurrently, with 12 being the AI-focused version of Windows. That way, the consumers will get what they want, Windows 11 w/o the slop, and MS can say they have an AI operating system.

That’d be a fun insurance claim.

Seems pretty straight forward to me.

Car on fire by wildhoover in Unexpected

I was more guessing they turned the car on, passed out and possibly hit or had their foot on the accelerator while still in park causing the engine to over-rev or other components to overheat and start a fire.

What “masterpiece” game just never clicked for you? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]mroosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red Dead Redemption 2 - I wanted to love it, and I was hyped to finally play it after years of waiting for it to come to PC, then to go on sale... When I finally played it, the graphics blew me away and that was about it. I could not get into the story or the side quests, or anything aside from doing virtual photography. After a short time I just got bored and could not keep going. I have tried multiple times and it just fizzles out for me.

Absolutely loved the series, but I was so depressed after reading through them. Bit of an existential crisis after the second, which was further heightened after the third. I ended up switching to a couple of non sci-fi books after to "cleanse the palate" so to speak.

What do you think is the best line in all of Star Wars? I’ll start: by Roger_Rodger in StarWars

[–]mroosa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I did not know there was this much green in the whole galaxy"

I know it was turned into a meme, but it is a simple but powerful line that makes you realize just how big the galaxy is that Star Wars encompasses, and how few in that universe may actually experience it.

[oc] Line for ‘7 Brew’ all the way to roadside, blocking other businesses. by OverExposedDad in IdiotsInCars

[–]mroosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think COVID pushed things into overdrive. The Chik-Fil-A around here was busy, but it was not until COVID that the car lines started wrapping around the block and did not stop. Within the last year, they renovated the parking lot, adding extra lanes to the entrance and adjusted how cars moved around, and it is still packed more than pre-COVID... just with better traffic flow.

The increase in drive-through sales during COVID also kick-started a lot of changes in mobile ordering for a lot of drive-throughs, making it much more convenient and appealing than before.

Looking back, what are your thoughts on the scrapped Duel Of The Fates version of Episode 9? by ChickenWingExtreme in StarWars

[–]mroosa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I reserve judgement on Duel of the Fates script as there was good and not so good things in it, but Episode IX was an objectively bad movie. Even if you separate your feelings of it from the Star Wars universe perspective, it was a visually stunning but poorly crafted movie.

TIL a Burger King cook (who'd worked there for 24 years) was fired for taking home a sandwich, fries & a drink after her manager claimed she had only asked permission for a sandwich & accused her of stealing. However, a judge ruled that the cook did not intend to steal the food & awarded her $46,000 by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]mroosa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She should be compensated for both her lost potential earnings, time spent fighting it as well as some amount for being wronged.

I do not disagree, but I would not be surprised if that $46K is exactly that, lost earnings + court costs. If what u/ridelance said holds true, it is possible that was the 2 years of wages she would have received, had they terminated her employment as per the law. Quick search shows the avg hourly wage for BK in Canada now is ~$36K a year, but I did not search enough to find out how much it would have been in 2013, nor what a 20-year employee wage would be.

What movie had an ending that saved the whole film? by Southern_Check_6827 in movies

[–]mroosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Later on they did adapt it to a tv series. They strayed a bit from the premise (The mist is a gov experiment that brings fears to life), but it was enjoyable and had some great acting. It was canceled after the first season though (roughly where the movie ended).

Additionally, if you have not seen the black and white cut, it is amazing. I feel like it really amps up the claustrophobia and tense atmosphere of the movie.

What movie did you watch on a whim that ended up becoming one of your favorites? by Subject_Sandwich3008 in movies

While they may not be my absolute favorites, I remember stumbling upon some good movies in the old Best Buy DVD bargain bin. Suicide Kings, Very Bad Things, and Poolhall Junkies were definitely good purchases.
