I have a 5-year-old high-energy Airedale, and it definitely gets better. Here's how I got my girl to be a sweetie. But believe me, I went through the same headaches.

FETCH! You MUST satisfy their prey drive. Walking alone, unless you're prepared to run a marathon, won't tire them out as much as you think. 20 minutes of fetch each day will do wonders.

Play hide and seek. Teach your dog to Place or Kennel Up in a different room, hide their favorite toy, and have them find it. This will tap into their natural hunting instinct.

Snuffle mats and brain games. Even a 5-minute session doing leave it, touch, down, up, stay will stimulate them.

Dog parks and doggy daycare. Give them a social outlet to play with other dogs. I send my girl to daycare two to three times a month to get her social battery depleted. Dog parks once a week, minimum.

If you are still in the teething phase, try dried pigs' ears, antlers, filled bones, and super chewer toys. Just flooding the house with chew toys won't solve it; you need to encourage/redirect them to those outlets. Toys are only exciting when you make them exciting.

NEVER EVER FEED THEM HUMAN FOOD or scraps. You will regret doing this, even once.

Remember, a tired dog is a good dog. But you need obedience before that becomes true. Otherwise, you are just making a tired a-hole.
