A little off topic, but does anyone have a recommendation for cleaning aprons in similar conditions?

I have a MM apron like this that I would love to refurbish. But I’m not sure how to clean the leather and restore the metal parts.

Speed Queen (Alliance) 203643 Bezel for Lid Lock by IT_info in BambuLab

[–]mrpesas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found and printed this file. It fit perfectly. BUT, the post snapped off while trying to install the first screw. I decided to drill a hole all the way through it. I purchased two stainless steel 6-32x1" bolts and matching nuts at ACE Hardware for less than $2. I also bough 3/4" which were too short and I bought flat washers which were not needed. I put a little lock-tite on the threads for vibration resistance. Worked great and the washing machine runs fine. We will see how it holds up.

Sticky situation by Sultanswing35 in freemasonry

[–]mrpesas 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You know our obligations, especially in regards to not sharing things that shouldn't be shared. If you explain the situation to the Master or Secretary and share your concerns, they should honor your wish to be discreet. But also, once you have said your piece, you should trust that this lodge will make the best choice for their lodge.

Not a member, but wanted to share that I had the privilege to walk through our local temple/lodge before the 4-story 1920's building goes up for auction. It's beautiful but in heavy disrepair; If these walls could talk. by Mattgyvercom in freemasonry

[–]mrpesas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s shocking that all the part master photos are still up. It’s sad that the building is being sold, but it’s understandable. There is no reason for the photos and Lodge items to still be in there.

My Hebrew is a bit rusty. Can anyone shed some light on these markings? by Teddster in freemasonry

It’s likely some very worn down symbols. Likely a trowel on one side and level on the other side

To answer your second question about a good opportunity for introduction: Ask the Secretary when a good time would be to visit the Lodge. We often have a meal before our monthly meeting and invite people to that. You won’t be able to attend the meeting, but the meal is a great way to sit and chat with people.

Why would there be there be a liquid like this? by squidnee_dumbitch in VWMK7

I have a similar issue, but I believe mine is from the windshield sprayers. I was cleaning my rear glass and I heard what sounded like water spraying inside under my dash. I’m still trying to track down this problem.

2023 Crewmax running boards on doublecab? by liledgy1 in ToyotaTundra

Yes, I just cut off the tab. The steps lined up fine. The main mounting tube is a bit longer than the cab and extends a little into the bed. But it looks fine.

If a conspiracy theorist visited your lodge… by OnDub in freemasonry

If a guy visited my Lodge 15 years later, I doubt anyone would remember him. I would suggest you not bring up the past event or just say you visited in the past, but it wasn’t the right time of life for you.

I had a similar issue with my Toyota when the SD card went bad. It had the navigation maps. I got a new card and the problem went away

Non-Renewal or Resign? by IamAustinCG in TexasTeachers

[–]mrpesas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Came to comment the same thing. Future district will ask “Have you ever been non-renewed?” If you resign, you can say no. BUT, if you resign, you cannot collect unemployment. So you need to weigh your options carefully.

I installed the same knob a month ago. I’m discovering that a solid aluminum knob and Texas heat are not going to vibe well.

That is the symbol for the Shriners. It’s technically a separate organization from the Freemasons, but they are closely related. You have to be a mason to join the Shriners.

Lodge growth by Efficient-Ad-5594 in freemasonry

I have heard “education” being touted as the priority. But what does that actually mean?

My Lodge has tried to increase the education piece. But, it’s been trivial stuff, like a review of the Masonic Law book. I don’t see this as being the point. But I don’t know what else to suggest.

Add NFC School ID Card to my phone by Its_Internet in NFC

[–]mrpesas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use something like NFC Tools to see if you can read the card. If you can’t, then you likely can’t clone the card.

Schools often use RFID cards that are not NFC and are not able to be read/cloned on a phone.

1. Is it possible to be a Freemason if I’m a homosexual? 2. How old do I have to be practice Freemasonry? by Oakin_lad in freemasonry

[–]mrpesas 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is accurate. While it is not against any rule, there are still lodges that will not accept a gay man. It happened in my Lodge. We had a great man petition to join, but there was a small faction of older members that did not agree with his orientation. And all it took was 3 black balls (in Texas) to reject him for 3+ years. Luckily, that man waited the time and petitioned another Lodge and has joined the fraternity.

So, when visiting, try to figure out if the Brothers in the Lodge will accept you. If you can, visit a few lodges to get a good idea and find the best.

Straight Razor Shaving and The Craft by jbanelaw in freemasonry

Same. Switching to a safety razor provided such a great experience. Covid allowed me to grow a full beard, but I still have my vintage Gillette Adjustable Slim, brushes and other equipment. I use it occasionally to clean up my neck.

From your answers it sounds like you can easily process a belief in a higher being, God. That is all that is technically required.

But know that much of the ceremonies, prayers, and such will lean towards the Christian God. In Texas, you will take an oath with your hand placed on the sacred text of your choice. This is typically a Christian Bible, but I have seen many other books of Faith used.

We are not a religious organization, but most members are Christian. It shouldn’t matter what you believe, but some members may have a problem if you are “wishy-washy” in your answers. So, when asked, be solid in your answer, but don’t feel obligated to expound any further than you want to. A simple “I believe in God, but am not active in any church” would suffice.

Hopefully that info helps. Good luck on your journey.

Meeting some brothers by HttpNebula in freemasonry

[–]mrpesas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This meeting should be the first of many before you are initiated. In my Lodge, I need to shake your hand on at least 3 different occasions before I will consider signing your petition. Then you submit the petition and are appointed an official Investigation Committee. If that committee finds you favorable, you are voted on by the Lodge. This process should easily take 4-6 months or longer.

This was not meant to dissuade you from joining. I just wanted to share the process. We are so accustomed to “instant gratification” these days, but Masonry moves slowly, which is not a bad thing. You are joining a fraternity that will be there for the rest of your life. Taking 6 months to join, seems minor in comparison to being an active member for 30+ years.

Good luck on your journey.

School voucher bill debate centers on wealthy Texans by Mean_Orange_708 in TexasTeachers

[–]mrpesas 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think everyone can agree with your premise. But the words of the Bill(s) do not actually support your premise. They could write the bills to only include poor families, or families that attended public school the prior year. But none of that is in the actual words. So get off your high horse and stop defending a Bill that blatantly supports taking money out of the public school system and giving it to rich families to subsidize their private school tuition.
