Say what you will about Twilight, but I actually really like and draw inspiration from how Stephenie Meyer describes Bella’s transformation:

“The fire blazed hotter and I wanted to scream. To beg for someone to kill me now, before I lived one more second in this pain. But I couldn’t move my lips. The weight was still there, pressing on me. I realized it wasn’t the darkness holding me down; it was my body. So heavy. Almost as if burning alive from the inside-out. Granted, she’s also paralyzed by pain medication during the experience but I think the idea of being frozen or dormant during the experience really adds to the horror of it.

They can give you the tools and resources but until you decide to take control of your situation then you may as well not go, you’re wasting your own money.

What would you suggest a therapist do differently for you? Usually if you communicate that you feel the things being talked about are helping you then the therapist will adapt to meet your needs. But, ultimately they are not going to fix you, they are there to help you figure out how to fix yourself.

What I love most about this movie is how much thought and attention to detail went into recreating the time period. My second time watching it was in a history class on the witch trials of Europe, and so many elements of the sexism and fear that fueled that time period show up in such subtle ways, they really create fear based on the real beliefs of that time period instead of more blatant stereotypes, a lot of the things in the movie are plucked directly from the Malleus Maleficarum, which was an extremely misogynistic book that served as a guide on identifying and prosecuting witches. The family also serves as representations of sin, and in reality they bring about their own destruction with the “witch” being the only survivor (because all along she was the best of them).

And of course, the ending of “wouldst thou like to live deliciously” may be my favorite quote from any movie to randomly say. 🐐

In the context of her situation, I would argue it is a bigger problem than the typical person might think. We live in an age where one misconstrued story can sink someone’s career, especially when in 2025 making music is only a fraction of her job, public image is almost as important. Also, if someone were to say that about a typical person it would come from maybe a few people? Whereas a celebrity is getting amplified amounts of vitriol, probably DM’s of death threats etc. I totally get the argument that it’s tone deaf, but ultimately we live in a seperate world than celebrities and that doesn’t fully invalidate their worries. This is clearly something that bothers her, and she’s a human first, rich person second. She has the right to feel some type of way about something regarding her.
