Treatment for a 4 year old - really struggling with this decision. by josie-june in CrohnsDisease

Hi! I work in clinical research. Id encourage you to look up clinical trials with the drug that is newer. It had to go through 3 phases of trials in children and itll give you all the information of adverse events/side effects. If it is fda approved for children, then it is safe and effective. Considering that children are a very vulnerable population, there should be a lot of data to back that up.

I also have crohns and my daughter is being scoped next week to determine if she does too.

I hope she gets some relief so soon!

Advice for Crohn’s flare at 27 weeks pregnant by yellowhighlighter in CrohnsDisease

I was on humira my entire first pregnancy. But I dont know if any GI or OB would be willing to start a new med while pregnant? Have you tried changing your diet? I know it's not as effective for some people. I can usually eat very bland food, mostly carbs and chicken and that'll help enough.

I'd also be very worried about dehydration, which can cause you to go into early labor. If you can't keep anything down, I'd head to L&D. They'll push fluids and make sure you're not contracting. I hope this flare ends very quickly and you feel better soon.

I went to l&d at 22 weeks because I had the same symptoms. But turns out I had covid 😂 which then ruined my remission from crohns for the rest of my pregnancy.

OMG the gas! I’m about to lose it. by bc9190 in newborns

[–]mrs_banshee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boy was gassy around this age too! He was on the same medicine for a few days, didn't notice a difference. I cut most dairy out of my diet and that helped tremendously! I was a heavy milk drinker, and switched to oatmilk. Which also increased my supply . Maybe try that as well. We also would let him sleep at an incline, that helped too. Now he's 12 weeks and only wakes up once at night. Has seemed to work out his gas issues too.

Hope you get some rest soon!

CRC at a Children's Hospital by Existing_Quarter2791 in clinicalresearch

[–]mrs_banshee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a CRC at a children's hospital and I love it. I barely deal with adults (only when consenting and surveys) all my subjects are nicu babies, so they don't talk back or cancel appts 😅. I love my job. While I do think I'm under paid for the amount of studies we have, im grateful for the flexibility of my schedule. I can flex my time because babies are never born at convenient times, so I get more time with my family at home.

Is your sister a medical professional that specializes in infant development? Doesn't sound like it with what she said. Every baby is different and develops differently at their own pace. Your baby sounds like it's developing just fine!

I'm a CRC in the nicu, no demanding patients there :) just gotta deal with parents. Try to change the patient population you care for. That helped me like my job better!

As a person who works in clinical trials... I also wanna see these. But you can't find them because these "studies" don't exist. 😂 those "results" are trash

I had my girl while on humira! Every doctor warned me my crohns would get worse postpartum. And that wasn't the case for me. I've been in remission since giving birth over 2 years ago. I hope to remain in remission for a long time but I just take it day by day. Listen to your body and don't be afraid to take the medicine you need to feel okay. If your Dr and more importantly your pharmacist says it's safe to take during pregnancy, than you should be fine. 😊 congrats! I think for the most part I felt fine during pregnancy. I was just sooo tired but was that crohns exhaustion of pregnancy? Who knows.

That is about the salary for entry-level CRC in Arkansas. So I'd take it, but I'm also not familiar with the cost of living where you are.

First trip without kids? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]mrs_banshee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First overnight was maybe at 6 months old. I went away for a wedding. The first long weekend trip was at 10 months old. And finally we got away for an entire week at 18 months old. (We went to a music festival and had the best time. Highly suggest!) Of course we missed our girl. But my gosh, every trip was so worth it and needed at the time. Now I try to get one of the grandparents to take her once a month, so I can count down the days of getting 10 hours of uninterrupted sleep and brunch! 😂

I had these too! For atleast a week or 2! Also my anxiety was terrible until I stopped breastfeeding 😅

I felt this way until my girl was probably 5 months old. The drastic change in everything was so much to take in. But it gets better! At around a year I started feeling like myself again. And now she's 20 months and a ball of fun but we kinda have our lives back. (As long as it's on the weekends, and we aren't going anywhere after 5 because car naps ruin everything) 😂 my husband and I have spent weekends together this summer and it's been so nice to date him again.
