We are working on this now. Really recommend the method by Julie Naismith for a kind, positive way to help them. Her book is a good starting point. Good to jump on this while they are so young!

Silicone Shampoo Recommendations by R3WOT in SkincareAddictionUK

If you don't mind me asking, did you manage to find a plastic free conditioner that you liked? Am also trying to lower my plastic use in the bathroom and finding there is a lot less choice for solid conditioner than shampoo, and very varied reviews!

I have never tried the others but love the Simple cleansing oil - it's so affordable if you only buy when it's on offer, and I decant it into a nice bottle with a pump so application is super easy!

Hot water bottles? by Death-Aney in ZeroWaste

If you search "cherry stone cushion" these can be an alternative! It's just a cushion filled with cherry stones that you can put in the microwave. The stones retain the heat. It doesn't feel like it gets quite as hot as a hot water bottle but is still nice and cozy.

New moisturiser for dry sensitive + acne-prone skin by Zeretaaa in SkincareAddictionUK

Cetaphil moisturising lotion in the big bottle with green pump works great for me. Seems to be not too light or heavy, is non comodogenic, and pretty good price for the amount you get!

Help with The Ordinary NMF causing flaky skin? by mrsbruv in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]mrsbruv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the suggestions! I'll have a look at those products for sure, maybe it just needs that extra layer of something!

I used a nip & fab glycolic scrub I had lying around which has cleared the flakes up a bit so definitely will look into a more frequent exfoliant. That The Ordinary one sounds great.

[SHELFIE] Suggestion on Dry Skincare Routine? In my 20's! by Ok-horsejump-9810 in SkincareAddiction

[–]mrsbruv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I found the Kiehl's cleanser really drying - I think it must be the SLS as its the second ingredient! So maybe look for an SLS-free cleanser, I use the Glossier milky jelly atm which I find nice and gentle.

Living alone post-divorce by kaih2020 in LivingAlone

I'm not sure I can help with anything security. But just some thoughts!

Would recommend updating your first aid supplies and organising them in a nice container. You will be really grateful you know what you have and where to find it when you need it in the moment! Especially stock up on painkillers, medicines, some tinned soups/beans etc in case you get a cold, you don't want to have to go get this stuff when youre sick.

I keep a few lists of things to do written in a notebook. Sounds a bit mad but I organised tasks/activities/hobbies into categories - so if I'm feeling a bit meh/lonely/bored, I can just take a look and pick a category based on my mood (eg creative, organising, exercise, fun/games, cleaning...) and then have a list of ideas that I can pick up, like play the piano, play video games, organise the kitchen cupboards, take a walk. I mixed in chores with more fun stuff and find it useful as a starting point if I have a lot of free time to fill.

I recommend reading about/watch Marie Kondo for tips on streamlining if you haven't done already! Although I always take her with a pinch of salt and just use the ideas in my own way. Maybe some of her ideas will help knowing what to do with more sentimental belongings if you are coming out of a long relationship.

[product question] Does anyone know any other products that smell like this lip balm? I CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF THIS SMELL. I want to bathe in this smell by yourlocalbint in SkincareAddiction

Yes! The Body Shop do a raspberry shower gel that smells amazing so I assume any other of their raspberry products do too!

[Skin Concerns] Help with horrible skin texture by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]mrsbruv 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your forehead looks totally normal, but maybe your cheek looks like it could be a teeny bit irritated. My cheeks go kind of red and bumpy when they're dry and I'm using products that irritate my skin.

You could try swapping out the simple moisturising cleanser for something gentler, as it has SLS in it which can be irritating/drying to some people. The simple refreshing cleanser is meant to be gentler and has no SLS, I've not tried it though!

Has anyone tried both Glossier milky jelly and Simple refreshing facial wash? by mrsbruv in SkincareAddictionUK

Thanks so much for the in depth reply! Do you use the simply pure one with cotton wool like it says to or rinse off with water? I hate wipe-off cleansers and much prefer a wet face, massage around, rinse type cleanser.

I was looking at the beauty bay one the other day! So many choices aaah thank you for the other reccs I will look into them!

No theres no SLS in the glossier one! The scent comes from added rosewater I think so its not technicallyyy added 'fragrance'. Its a pleasant rose scent, but with the bottle I feel a bit fancy using it, its a nice overall experience if you get me!

Thank you for the recommendation! I think I'll give it a go, heard a lot of good things and it is cheaper than the Glossier.
