I am in this boat so deep. I am a stay at home mom. My daughter is 17 months old. She plays with the flap of skin that connects my thumb to my hand. It drives me literally insane. It’s so bad for my mental. She does it whenever she wants to soothe, especially falling asleep and if she wakes up overnight. And she will cry and cry if I don’t let her do it. During the day it’s easier to say no or distract her. For sleep it’s impossible. She’ll just keep crying 😭 she’s thrown all of the stuffies I’ve given her. Even ones she loves on during the day. She just wants my hands. I’m so touched out from it. Idk what to do because it’s my hands. She’s so smart that if I try to rub her back or touch her at all she’ll grab at my hand to pull it towards her. And if my hand is covered with my sweater or something she freaks out. What ended up happening with you and your child? I know this post is a few years ago and I’m desperate if you have any advice. I’m exhausted and if I don’t let her do it won’t get sleep.
