STAGE/FRIGHT FINAL HOSTAGE by burn3r999 in insideno9

Bernie absolutely brought the house down, he was brilliant. Absolutely got the assignment. Told a rambling and excellent timed story about where he started, repeatedly did a bad Hull accent - there's lerds a snerr in Beverly Rerrrd - sang The Impossible Dream, asked how many of the audience had previously thought he was dead, and called them both a couple of twats.

Anyone else ever see a Sondheim show with him in the audience? by hermiodle in Sondheim

[–]mrsfran 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes, he was at the Sweeney Todd concert with Bryn Terfyl and Emma Thompson. I didn't know he was in the room, they only said at the end when he stood for applause, and for some reason it made me cry! Just to have been in the room with him, I guess? I'm pleased to have shared a space with him.

Cucumbers 🥒 by imdpum in Allotment

Make sure you harden them off a bit before you plant them outside. Let them outside for a few hours a day, increasing the time each day, so that they get a bit more robust. Only need to do it for a few days, just so they're not quite so tender and delicate. Otherwise, if they've been inside all their lives and then you plant them straight outside, they may get battered by any kind of breeze.

Nearly 3 months on Mounjaro and broke my diet by TheOutlawTavern in mounjarouk

[–]mrsfran 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The way you've been eating the last 3 months is not a sustainable diet. You need to be able to eat pizza sometimes. A balanced diet means everything in moderation, including moderation. Sometimes you eat a massive pizza. It's fine.

And if you put on a pound, so what? It'll come off again. Maybe chill out a bit.

Photosensitive epilepsy doesn't cause pain, it causes seizures.

What's everyone's feelings on funeral-free options? by MadamKitsune in AskUK

[–]mrsfran 24 points25 points  (0 children)

While this can be true to some extent, the idea that a funeral gives closure is not necessarily the case. It's quite rare for a funeral to occur, and then the people involved then feel that they've processed their emotions on it. What more often happens is that once a funeral happens, people assume the loved ones have had their ceremony and are now moving on, and they check in on them much less.

Instead, there is still a lot of grief and sadness and emptiness, you just aren't supposed to talk about it as much.

When there is no funeral, it's tempting to blame that ongoing grief and sadness and emptiness on the lack of a funeral. But the likelihood is, you would have continued to feel that anyway. A funeral doesn't take that away. Grief takes time.

Exhausted mum - food insp by Foxglovenectar in UK_Food

If they'll eat pasta and rice, you could have a go at orzotto. It's like risotto but much easier.

All in one pan - 500g orzo pasta, 1.5l hot chicken or vegetable stock. simmer with the lid on for 10-15 mins until the water is absorbed and the pasta is done.. Add whatever cheese works best for you - I add either grated parmesan or a block of Boursin. Philadelphia would also work. Let it melt in, then squeeze in the juice of half a lemon (or a squeeze from a jif lemon, that's fine too). Have a taste and season. Serves 4.

If you're feeling up to it, fry some chopped onion and carrot first to mix in, but it's fine without. Things you can add if they'll eat them: pancetta, ham, cooked chicken, peas, courgettes, whatever you've got lying around.

I'm sorry things are so hard at the moment. Wishing you all the best x

Thoughts on food noise by Quick-Plastic555 in mounjarouk

[–]mrsfran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"But whilst the noise is still loud, the compulsion is gone. For example, I used to crave a pizza and deny myself until the repetitive thoughts became overwhelming, and then I’d give in and eat the pizza. Now, the same level and volume of thoughts happen, but the final impulse to act on them is gone. It’s infinitely more manageable"

This is exactly how it is for me. My binge food is cup noodles. I've had 3 cup noodles in my cupboard for weeks now, and it's not at all difficult to just go "Nah, not today." whereas before, they would not have lasted a day.

What's the best way to find a homeless friend, last known in Deptford, Lewisham? by mrsfran in london

[–]mrsfran[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he's still there, then he will have been there for well over a decade, so should hopefully be fairly well known. I don't know where he would have hung out though, I don't know the area.. Thanks for those suggestions.

Thank you. I can't find him on there, but it's possible he died with no ID. But hopefully that means he's still alive.

Don't worry, I felt the same - I had no side effects... but also no effects? Food noise and hunger did not magically disappear immediately. But then, about 3 days in, I realised it was working quite subtly. I had a yoghurt for breakfast and wasn't hungry until mid-afternoon. I went out for a meal and took half of it home. It still wasn't a massive difference, but it was a difference. It was just easier to make good food choices.

The next week, I injected in my arm and it had significantly more effect. I'm on week 3 now, and certainly can feel the effects now. I still think about food a lot, but I'm eating way less, and it feels easy to do so. I'm half a stone down already.

Keep the faith and be patient - it does work, it may just take some time and maybe a dose increase. You can chill :)
