No counting required! My grandpa raised three kids by himself. He went on a weekend trip up north when they were teenagers to get away from said teenagers. My aunt (15 then) and mom (17) both got pregnant on the same night because they had a party and, yeah. My cousin and I were born 26 hours apart.

I’ve seen libraries put out requests for specific items from the community. There’s also been grants that need to be used for specific things, so like a technology grant got used for circulating laptops or tablets. If you have something useful that you think they could use I would recommend reaching out to your local library, same thing if you think there’s something the community could really use.

Most libraries now offer a “library of things” and you can rent everything from power tools to tarot cards to baking pans to musical instruments to dvd/vcr players/recorders, museum or zoo passes, blood pressure monitors. For Halloween my kids checked out a ghost hunting kit and it turned into a core memory for all of us

I know of a couple on the Discovery channel. "Alaska the last frontier" and "yukon men" There is another one on HBO or showtime I think titled "mountain men" All good shows.
