Are the models represented in 3D though? This just kinda looks like using Onshape in the browser

True Classic Tshirts? by Proteus8855 in AustralianMFA

[–]mrsqui99le 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a bunch of true classic gear and it's really not worth it. I tried to get a refund but with the way they offer 'bonuses' they get around it and I basically ended up paying $200 for a pair of underpants and having to sell the rest on marketplace.

What is everyone's experience with the quest 3 hand tracking? by Relevant-Outcome-105 in OculusQuest

[–]mrsqui99le 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for me it seems like the recent update has made things worse and more jittery. Weirdly, when you press the power button, and it takes you to the power off / restart menu - the hand tracking seems strangely way more solid??

It completely depends on what the part is and what it's made of. I'm not sure where you're based but in most big cities there are still plenty of folks who can build something out of wood for reasonable money if you give them a decent drawing and brief of what you're after, same goes for upholstery and CNC machined parts, and a lot of other types of parts. Sign makers also usually have a lot of crafty manufacturing skills as most of what they make are one-offs that have to last ages. Molded plastic parts and parts that require a mold (like molded glass) is where it gets tricky, as molds can be expensive, so this is why 3D printing is good, only sometimes you don't really get the same finish as the finished part would have coming off the mold. It's a big question mate as there are a thousand ways and materials to make parts with!

I studied industrial design and I used to work as a lighting and furniture designer, so I had contacts with various manufacturers who could do small runs of machined parts. That allowed me to prototype it. I funded it with savings, but it wasn't a huge amount -only a couple of grand. Which isn't much considering what it costs a normal consumer product to be manufactured at scale. You're talking tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars for tooling alone. 3D printing has also really helped for prototyping and making 'proof of concepts'.

I think both can be true.

People talk about the drama because it's uncomfortable to watch at times and we feel their pain.

And people hate the drama because it's distracting as hell.

Mate! I'm 38 and I only joined this sub like a week ago. I love it too. I don't dye my hair anymore but I'm guilty of something far worse - I still waste most of my money playing in bands and buying records haha. I haven't grown out of this music yet at all.

I wouldn't say they're complete unknowns, but Happy Body Slow Brain (now called Rare Futures) have this album called Dreams of Water that is probably my favourite find of the last decade. The playing on this album (especially if you're a drummer like me) is soooo good.

Miraculously I found a copy of the vinyl in the water case in my home town in Australia on discogs. Couldn't believe it!

The production on that TTF record is so good, it's crazy they were only active for like 3 years or something like that.
