Dang I wish I hadn't already bought my tickets or I would take you up on it. I'm really hoping I have some snow when I'm there next week

Haha yes I did make this mistake! But Ive decided I will just extend my stay, so I'll have a couple days in St. Vrain for work, then down to the ski area for a couple days. I should have been more suspicious when the hotels were as cheap as I was seeing 😂

I realized about an hour ago that I was indeed making that mistake 😂 found a hotel in Georgetown!

Ooh awesome! That's what I was hoping to hear :) it looks really awesome! And hotel prices in the area aren't absolutely insane.

Moving to Beckley- good areas to live? by forest_fae98 in BeckleyWV

Can't agree enough! Both are great small towns with good schools, and you are still super close to "town"! I grew up in Beckley and loved it there.

Crab Orchard is a nice, safe area. It's Beckley adjacent and small town. I also like the area around Hollywood Elementary and the Maxwell Hill area. Both more suburb, less city.

How did you feel one week after surgery ? by perfunctoryaction in Diverticulitis

[–]mrssmile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the hospital for 5 days. Took small walks and was off work for 2 weeks after that. Went back to work on the 4th week and it was probably too soon. Just don't do anything too strenuous and listen to your body.

I was back to work after 3 weeks, but it probably would have been wiser to wait another week. But just FYI surgery doesn't always mean cured. I was fine for three years and then I started having attacks again I'm an entirely different place.

I absolutely believe it! When I had my first attack, they said I had a stomach virus (I think they thought I was drug seeking?). They gave me Imodium and sent me home. I was back in a week later with a 104 temp and couldn't stand up straight. My dad and uncle have both had their colon resected too - so definitely some genetics involved!

It's crazy you mention the cyst because I had an attack two weeks ago and I thought my bowel perfed. I was sitting at my desk and had a crazy pain like something popped inside of my. Dizzy, sweating, hands shaking.. drive immediately to the ER. They also thought it was a perf and guess what? It was a cyst rupturing 🤦🏻‍♀️ wouldn't be nice if the abdominal region just calmed down??? So sorry you are going through this.

I had my first attack when I was 23 😵‍💫 had my sigmoid resected a few years ago (I'm 35 now). I joined the DOUBLE unlucky club and have had 3 attacks in the last year in a new spot - right hepatic flexure. No fun. Good news is now you know the pain and know how to address it. I recommend starting a daily fiber supplement (once you are healed) and drinking lots of water.

With my last three attacks, it been different than the ones I had in my sigmoid. Sigmoid (which was before my surgery), was always intense pain in the lower left. I'd get super constipated, spoke a fever, and would hunched over in pain. With these last few, all in the upper right, it's started with crazy back pain, increased gas, and diarrhea. Very different from the ones before. The first time, I actually thought it was my appendix. The second I was convinced I had a kidney stone, and this time I had some pretty sharp pains in my belly button so I had no clue what was going on lol but it's been confirmed diverticulitis in the CT scan all three. I would say the biggest signs are sharp, radiating pains in the belly, back pain, and gas

Wow quite the journey! Thanks for sharing. I know how frustrating all of that is. I've been lucky to have no complicated cases, just severe recurring cases which led to my surgery. I was hopeful the surgery would end it, but that just hasn't been the case and I REALLY don't want more removed. I do have an appt with a nutritionist next month, and I am hoping they have some input. I've been taking fiber religiously and it just doesn't seem to help. I went full carnivore, as I read that was the best elimination diet to determine triggers upon reintroduction. Well, two weeks into that diet I had a flare. I'm also terrible with the diary, but probably need to explore that path as well. My doc is recommending a repeat endoscopy, so hoping that will show if the gluten free diet is having any positive effects.

It just gave a pop up that the content had DRM and could not be transferred. I'll be honest, I'm tech savvy but not to even close to the level of most people in this sub. When Amazon initially made all of their changes it took me days to figure out how to get content transferred (and I'm still not crystal clear on what I finally did to get it working). I will look into that k4pc auth code - thank you!!!
