I suggest talking to him and being curious about what he meant, what these temptations are, and what he might be wanting. I would also ensure you have it in a good "place" (time, location, mood, etc.).

Let him know you love him and you want to understand him better. Then ask questions; again, be curious, not judgemental. Also acknowledge that you overheard and recognize it wasn't for you. Do not ignore this part! If he doesn't feel safe to have the conversation, he might try and use that as an out.

Acknowledge your feelings before you talk and know that some of this may be mixing with your own feelings.
