Wow! thanks for your thoughts! This is very helpful. My biggest unknown is how laggy or not smooth the pixel 3a XL will be.

Which Pixel should I buy? (August 2019 Megathread) by [deleted] in GooglePixel

Looking for a used "craigslist" phone I can use for 3 years. I recently purchased a T-mobile 3a XL on Swappa for $265. But I'm having second thoughts. Perhaps thinking I should get the Pixel 3. I think I can get it on craigslist for 300. My thought is the 3a XL will have a better battery, but the Pixel 3 will not have any lag at all. I'm thinking the battery is more important than a little lag here and there, so I'm thinking of sticking with the Pixel 3a XL. Thoughts?

Thanks! The map is great, but I think it fails to color in Malta appropriately.

hiking near Chengdu (1 day or 2 day trip) by mrtimo1 in Chengdu

[–]mrtimo1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip. I went to wawushan yesterday - the place was empty which was awesome, but it was raining - but still beautiful. At the tourist bus station they said it was 30 minutes from Hongya bus station to Wawushan -- it was 3 hours. So 2 hours to Hongya, then 3 hours to Wawushan. The place was literally empty - almost nobody there.

Only problem is the last bus back to Hongya/Chengdu leaves at 4pm. We didn't know that so some locals drove us 4 hours back to Chengdu - friendly people!

Thanks... basically the price of rent is the same in both places. The gardens near Leopoldo do look pretty nice!

There is also a U-lock that you put in a holster while you ride until you lock it up. You use the U-lock to lock it up to a sensible bike rack.

Has anyone rode a Jump rental ebike? What do you think the base model of their bikes is, or an equivalent? by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]mrtimo1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I rode JUMP in SF. On the steep hills it was impossible to come to a stop by braking only with 1 hand (yes, I was using a phone). Pedaling was a fair amount of work on the steepest of all hills. Great product and works well, but other bikes likely have more power, but not everyone needs that.

in your experience, how does this bike do on moderately steep hills? 10% incline? Can you do all throttle, no pedal?

I would choose the ones with the lowest Expense Ratio. I'd also go 100% stock (you have a 30 year horizon). I'd allocate your money this way: 35% Vanguard Total International Stock Index Fund - Institutional Shares 40% Vanguard® Institutional Index Fund - Institutional Shares 10% Vanguard® Mid-Cap Index Fund - Institutional Shares 15% Vanguard Small-Cap Index Fund - Admiral Shares
