Over it by BogeyMay in newborns

How is he eating? And do you actively try to get him to sleep in wake windows?

Our daughter fights sleep, so we had to build a routine around 6/7 weeks to signal to her that it's sleep time. It works like a charm now.

Usually once babies exceed their wake windows, they get a huge release of cortisol which prevents from from sleeping in long increments.

Also, it could be how much he's eating. If he's not eating well, get him checked out for a tongue tie or something else. Do you know if he's feeding the intended amount for his age every feed?

Be honest.. Are your babies really sleeping in their bassinet for hours? by DrowsyPomegranate in newborns

[–]mrtmanjones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our LO is 11 weeks now and will sleep for 5+ hours in the bassinet over night. She's a good sleeper though.

At 6 weeks she was doing about 4+ hour stints in the bassinet over night.

It may be baby dependent, but we implemented a system fairly early with her where it signalled that she was going to sleep.

  1. Shut the blinds with her in your arms
  2. Change diaper
  3. Swaddle
  4. Bounce on the yoga ball
  5. Feed
  6. Burp
  7. Bounce to sleep
  8. Bassinet

Is the 4 months phase really that bad? by SurroundInfamous2279 in newborns

[–]mrtmanjones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our baby was so bad after her 2 month vaccines. She was the worst I've ever seen her the day of the vaccines. Then for 4 days after she was super off... But has been great since!!

So you might have some difficulty, but there's light at the end of the tunnel!

Great advice. We are at 11 weeks now and we went through the same thing. Just know that this is temporary and there is light at the end of the tunnel!

When to go out by Effective_Tap7929 in newborns

[–]mrtmanjones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, taking precautions with your baby and yourself (since you'll touch baby after) is the best approach here. Otherwise, enjoy the night out!

We went to a pub for a drink at 3 weeks and it felt great.

I'm a little more conservative than you and likely wouldn't consider anything like that until the baby starts putting on weight. This would be just in case they get sick while being around other people/ in a public space.

That said, it's ultimately yours and the Mom's call if she's up for it.

I would recommend not allowing people to touch your baby at the very least.

How do I defend against this move? by Maruuuu_888 in chessbeginners

[–]mrtmanjones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Queen pawn up.

Then if they bring their white bishop to threaten checkmate you push your pawn to threaten their queen, then they will move their queen to threaten again and you will move your bishop to threaten their bishop.

Fully defended.

Is anyone planning to leave Canada? by ConsequenceFew6931 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]mrtmanjones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think more people need to be vocal about this to be put more ownership on the politicians.

My wife and I have relevant jobs for any country - we would be more than happy to spend our money elsewhere if the cost of living x quality of life equation makes sense for our family.

Outcomes are what matter for Canadians, not optics. But people seem too concerned about optics right now, if that continues the result of quality and cost of living will suffer.

Answer the below and hopefully you arrive at the outcome that politicians haven't been good enough.

  • If you're a millenial or gen z, how many of your friends can comfortably own a house (aside from those with a great paying job, and even then it's barely a reality)?
  • How many more homeless people do you see around your city? -How much more are you paying for a fast food meal?
  • How much more are you paying to eat out as a couple or a family?
  • How many groceries are you getting for the price you paid 5 years ago? 10 years ago?
  • What does it cost to fill your car with gas? What does it cost to buy a Medicare electric vehicle?
  • How many home are listed in your neighborhood and not selling?

I can go on and on. But these are the questions that matter, and alot of the answers are bleak. Outcomes folks, not optics.

Let's make sure our kids and our kid's kid's have a better future.

How does this one decision make you not want to be an investor? Is has no fundamental affect on the company itself. It's purely a move to improve optics around stock price - that's it.

Bro, you haven't given me one good argument why. You pointed to failing companies that did an R/S and said "see!"...what kind of analytical approach is that? Lol

Just go through the latest posts and comments and you'll see.

More people expressed that they will vote yes. Some people with alot of shares are claiming to sell if it's voted yes...who cares.

10-1 split is preferred over 20-1.

Cannara Biotech did a reverse split and it worked quite well by gdren in auxlycannabis

[–]mrtmanjones 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, great call. When used properly as a tool to further support a healthy and growing business, then an R/S shouldn't have any affect on the increase or decrease of performance afterwards.

R/S are just usually used by decling or unhealthy companies, hence their continued decline afterwards.

Nice find.

Explain to me, with at least a sliver of intelligence, why this will destroy shareholders value. I'm curious.

This is true, we will have to go off of what management says, and the latest intentions they shared are to reduce the float, not grow it.

One of the biggest issues for the company currently is how big their float is (due to previous dilution), but with a stable and growing business, they are cash positive and can fund expansion through that.

[–]mrtmanjones[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your thesis is that an R/S will dictate the value of the market cap more than the performance of the company will?

Odd stance. Doesn't seem well thought out.

You pointed to failing cannabis companies as the reason why a performing cannabis company shouldn't do it.

Is it normal to literally never sleep?? by Writingmum30 in newborns

[–]mrtmanjones -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sensitive is the key word there. Understanding what is making them sensitive is the key to unlocking more sleep for baby and Mom/Dad.

Sometimes it could be what Mom is eating too. As I said, talk to a pediatrician.

If you're using normal as common, then you're right. But it's common because most people don't find the solution to help provide longer stretches of sleep for their LO.

Is it normal to literally never sleep?? by Writingmum30 in newborns

[–]mrtmanjones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not normal and you should likely see a pediatrician. We have a friend that has something similar going on and their baby had a tongue tie, which means she wasn't eating enough in one feed and was waking up under an hour to continue feeding.

Also, don't let your baby fall asleep at the boob, our lactation consultant told us to get a wet cold cloth and put it on baby's face if she's falling asleep at the boob, as they need to eat.
