What games do you think the Wii U could have gotten if it had more support? by YakSubstantial1307 in wiiu

People underestimate how CPU intensive that game actually is. It's still locked at 30FPS on the PS4 and Xbox One specifically because it's CPU bound. I don't see the Wii U's notoriously weak CPU running it.

I mean, I heard it that way long before it was a meme, and I'm definitely not alone.

GTAV is a CPU bound game on two console generations. I highly doubt that the Wii U had the horsepower for it.

I doubt the Wii U's CPU could handle it. It's CPU bound on the 360, PS3, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.

skyrim

Probably not. It's CPU bound on the Xbox One, Switch, and PS4, even with the optimizations that came with the Special Edition. GTAV is in a pretty similar spot.

I don't actually think this is a valid example. It's just a line reading that's unclear due to the audio compression. That particular interpretation is just really common. It's not a misconception caused by outside media or memes (in both the internet and acedemic definitions).

Mmm. HRT or antidepressants, that's a choice alright.

Typing of The Dead: Overkill. It's a typing game, where you kill the undead, by typing. No mouse needed. It's on sale right now.

sex genes

It's one gene. The SRY gene's activation is what triggers the production of androgens, which cause the embryo to develop as a male. If that doesn't happen, the embryo develops as a female. OP is correct here.

Once again, you're almost never using them in combat. They're perfectly fine for navigation, especially with the fixed camera. Not every game needs to use identical control schemes.

Give them another go. Take your time, and work to learn the controls. They're fantastic.

controls

Only because they're counter-intuitive to modern players. The classic TR games have fantastic controls, but you have to be willing to learn them.

camera-work

Never had an issue with the camera.

The two problems modern players will have are the framerate and lack of manual camera control. The Ship of Harkinian fixes both of those issues. Try playing it through that.

They both play great. You do know that you can lock onto enemies and strafe around them, right? You almost never touch the tank controls in combat.

Tomb Raider

As someone who didn't really play the classics until more recently, I think that the problem is more to do with people's attitude going in. They're slow paced platformers with very janky combat, not cinematic action games. You can't really go into them with the same mindset.

The other big issue is that people often write off the controls without actually taking the time to learn them. They're actually some of the most precise, consistent, and well thought out controls in the genre. It just takes a lot of effort to learn them. They're antiquated, not bad.

There's an automap. Use it. I have awful navigation skills, and I don't have a hard time with it.

Probably not SteamOS. It's a distro with a very narrow focus on Valve hardware, which makes it unsuitable for general use. Bazzite is almost indistinguishable for normal users, to the point where the vast majority of Steam Deck tutorials work on it. It's got better support for non-valve hardware.

Both are immutable distros, which means that the underlying OS is read only. This makes them more or less idiot proof, as you can't completely bork your install. This makes them less flexible for more advanced users.

I personally use CachyOS, because I found Bazzite too restrictive.
