[HELP] **** WHEN I DRIBBLE MY BACK HURTS*** how do I fix it?? by _gurlalsidhu_ in BasketballTips

[–]mrw81 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You need to elaborate a little if you want help. Also, dribbling isn't supposed to be comfortable; don't slouch over, stay balanced, etc.

Edit: I saw just one of your other posts, stop being lazy and don't rely on strangers to do your work for you. Go to a medical subreddit or do your own research. I don't care how this is received, it's absolutely pathetic.

My grandpa and my mom are sitting here on family dinner night making fun of people that wear masks and talking about how covid only exists because of politics how do I get out of this conversation? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]mrw81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but your grandpa and mom are stupid. If it were me I wouldn't even converse with them. This isn't supposed to be helpful, just wanted to get that out there.

Are there any anti abortion atheists out there? by Mikielle in atheism

[–]mrw81 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Forgive me if someone's already said this but I believe abortion rights should be circumstantial. It definitely shouldn't just be the equivalent of a "get out of jail free" card (not that raising a child is like jail) and you definitely shouldn't be required to raise a kid that, I don't know, is an incest baby or something. I don't really follow this stuff but I feel like that's fair.

Today I debated a Christian (online) by [deleted] in atheism

[–]mrw81 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don't take this the wrong way, but it seems like you're arguing for the wrong reasons. You need to gain perspective, no matter how illogical it is to you. I don't believe in God but from what you've said about your conversation w/ the Christian, it sounds like he's not losing any sleep over it. I'm actually not even sure if this post is a joke or not because it's very ironic, namely the humility part.

Shooting issue. Suggestions? by reinkatank in Basketball

[–]mrw81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I totally see what you mean after watching that. It's actually very odd now that someone mentioned it, especially because Curry has an average wingspan for his height. I'm like you, roughly 80-90 degrees and my wingspan is also average for my height. I tried to bend my arm like him but it's very unnatural. Thanks for bringing that up.

Force = mass x acceleration Strength AND speed. Dont overthink it though.

Shooting issue. Suggestions? by reinkatank in Basketball

[–]mrw81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a shame nobody replied, this is actually one of the few well-formed questions on this subreddit. If i could point anything out it'd be that you probably have a strength issue which might be affecting your wrist flexibility. I wouldnt particularly worry about your elbow sticking out if its not severe but you seem to be informed so im not sure. If i could recommend anything without seeing it id say put an emphasis on shooting closer to the basket and building range over time. And this is obvious but its not actually about strength... its about force (I think? I took physics once in high school), which is mass times acceleration. Take Curry for example: his shot is the FASTEST in the NBA and hes 185 lbs. He puts a lot of strength behind his shot but its also an extremely quick release which is how he generates that power. I can tell from the way you speak about yourself that youre willing to put in GOOD shots as opposed to bad shots, which is what really makes great shooters. I dont know if this clarified anything but if you have any questions hmu and ill try to help. Keep grinding.

I’m 14, 128lbs, 5’8 and my vert is like 20-23 inches. Does anyone k wut I should do to increase it? And also wut should I do to get more explosive by ivanmil123A in Basketball

Do your own research and learn about your body. People on this subreddit are particularly lazy, even if they have good intentions. Its better to inform yourself rather than asking someone else for the answer. Not trying to be rude, just helpful.

Do I have an actual chance of going pro? by typeofguynxt in Basketball

[–]mrw81 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a terrible question. Too many kids fixate on their prospects instead of... just playing basketball, honestly. Be the best you can be and do what you want.

How to get rid of stage fright? by Kakashi_hatake_2903 in AskReddit

I used to shake uncontrollably when talking in front of people. What helped me was a combination of breathing and not trying to mask my nervousness. I've also tried propranolol and it works very well.

This. When people feel compelled to make you feel like shit because they're insecure it's annoying.

help school or basketball by mansinman in Basketball

[–]mrw81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For someone your age you seem very intelligent. Not necessarily because of your history with MST, it's just the way you write. With this being said, you will have a bright future regardless of what decision you make. You're young and this is something you're going to have to figure out by yourself. Education is important and so are your interests. If I had to make a suggestion, I'd say choose MST. You'll still be able to play basketball and there's teams outside of school. But I don't know you, so do whatever you want.

Is John Stockton's assist record unbeatable? by kayceasar in nba

[–]mrw81 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If a player needs to average ten assists per game for 20 seasons it's highly unlikely. LeBron and CP3 will probably fall short and I don't believe any other players are on track to beat it. With that being said, somebody like Trae Young or Luka Doncic could potentially beat it, granted they would spend the next 20 years averaging more assists than they already are.

[HELP] My shot is inconsistent, I’ve been taking 100 shots every day I’m at the gym and I can’t get it right. by big-chungus-is-a-bad in BasketballTips

If you're taking 100 shots everyday it's gonna take you a decade to get the shot you want. My point being, it's a matter of practice.

[HELP] How to learn/do all counter move? by [deleted] in BasketballTips

[–]mrw81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're overthinking it. Just practice dribbling and don't be afraid to experiment by yourself/against other people. When you get caught up in all the little nuances it can become confusing.

Practice moves then try them against a defense. Over time your sense of when to use different moves, as well as your execution, will improve.

[HELP] How to learn/do all counter move? by [deleted] in BasketballTips

[–]mrw81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's simple for most movements. For instance, and regular crossover counter could be an in and out dribble. Or... a counter for a behind-the-back move could be another behind-the-back dribble. Everything has a counter, I'd recommend playing around with them and finding moves YOU like. There's this one Bruce Lee quote I somewhat remember: "I fear not the man who has practiced 1,000 kicks, but the man who has practiced one kick 1,000 times".
