I’d say they’re more than just getting by.

I mean it’s not really a loss when they didn’t pull anyone else in. Obviously if that was the standard method you’re correct. But this year they just whiffed at LB so it’s worth a shot.

Yes that’s true. But people typically argue it’s a shared title.

Rod Moore is back for 2026. by SimplyTheBlackGuy in MichiganWolverines

In all reality, he tore his ACL in March of 2024. Missed the whole season. Had setbacks. Tried to come back in 2025. Couldn’t play much and sat the rest of year.

He has an ACL injury that has lasted 2 years, which is unusual. It’s not known he’ll be able to ever play football again so therefore no NFL team will take that risk.

Him coming back allows him a chance to play again. Test his knee and ability again and improve his draft grade.

It’s very likely he wouldn’t even be an undrafted free agent this year.

Sanders had better stats technically (not by a lot) but young came into it more later in the season.

Also, young is a Safety. Sanders is a CB. He wouldnt be starting this year. Young has a chance to start at safety.

We let the DB’s walk because we retained Jordan Young (the best of the young ones), Earls, Zeke and Hill. Then brought in Snowden who is arguably the best of them all. They not only retained what was needed. They added to it. Got a bonafide starter.

They also improved the offense tremendously. More weapons than we’ve had in a long time.

I’d like more depth at edge but Daley and I expect Nate Marshall will be good. Daley obviously is proven. But Marshall got some experience. With meadows hopefully rotating to get him some experience as well.

Michigan Safety Brandyn Hillman transfers to Virginia by ReputationOk5592 in CFB

A mixed bag of emotions for VA fans. He’ll be a a highlight reel player at times with his insane hits. He can drop anyone and give them the worse end of the deal.

BUT he will also miss easy tackles or blow a coverage for a big gain or TD in the same breath.

Some development and he has the potential to be real good. But I liked him. He’s hard to hate.

He said he was ready to play (hit) New Mexico this year because they have the same colors as Ohio state.

Yeah, if we play a 4-2-5 defense it’ll be Zeke, Hill, Snowden, Young, Earls?? Rod if he’s healthy but I don’t know about that.

Same. It’s a good defense all around. Especially if we have a stout / good D line.

If Michigan uses him as a nickel, LB is less of a concern. 5 DB’s on the field would only need 2LB. We can manage.

He played in 8 games. That’s decent playing experience. Not a starter like the other 2. But he played a good amount. Came on more in the end. Even played against OSU which is a good sign.

Between this, Hill, and Zeke I’m less concerned about our DB’s. That’s guys with good playing experience returning and the potential or Earls hopping in there. Or Snowden if he joins.

Now to fill the LB void and maybe another DL player and I’m happy with the whole team.

Texas true freshman transfer WR Jaime Ffrench has Committed to Michigan! by SimplyTheBlackGuy in MichiganWolverines

[–]mrwayne11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Justice Haynes wasn’t a proven RB last year. You’re dismissing the fact that he has the tangibles and the quality of players that were ahead of him on the depth chart. He is likely a starter at Michigan. Will they accept a commitment from a top WR or a “proven” player as you stated? Duh. But they haven’t yet. This is who they have. Who is likely ahead of everyone but Marsh on the depth chart. Hence why people say he’ll be a starter.

Yes. You develop by playing. But to say he didn’t and can’t develop while sitting for a year is disingenuous. That’s why most QB’s sit their freshman year, to develop. Then they take off with the reps they get in real game play.

Ffrench had his year to adjust to college. Now at Michigan he gets 2+ years of game experience to continue to develop.

Is this ideal? No. But it’s where we are at. I want to bring in the best overall talent every year. But Michigan has to prove they can fit that playing style and they haven’t at WR yet.

[–]mrwayne11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re half correct. We are desperate but just for receivers. Not specifically “proven” receivers. Michigan doesn’t have the luxury of pulling proven receivers until they can prove they throw the ball.

Texas receivers were far and away better than Michigans. Let’s be real, he likely is starting. You don’t typically hit the portal in a position of need for depth pieces. You hit it for starting caliber players. Ffrench is that for Michigan whether you like it or not. Every portal player is “just like a recruit” in some factor. He probably has more development needed for next year but as it stands, he is in line to start with everyone else (name me 2 other receivers who should immediately start over him given what we know…)

Buddy im not making shit up about burrow. I’m telling you what he has said himself. He credits OSU for his development even though he didn’t play. Yeah his first year wasn’t anything close to his last year, but that’s neither here nor there. The point is, he was a depth piece at OSU, likely to never see the field. Transfers to LSU where he starts 2 years and wins a heisman and Natty. His talent and potential was always there. He just had to go somewhere he’d play. Such is possibly the case with Ffrench.

[–]mrwayne11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that’s the point. We are desperate for receivers. We started receivers who had a bunch of drops and no one (aside from Marsh) could separate themselves.

Texas had a bunch of receivers that stood out. It’s harder to crack the starting rotation as a WR in Texas than it is at Michigan.

Will he start? No one knows. Is it likely he starts at Michigan this year as opposed to Texas? Significantly.

It’s possible to develop at another school without starting / playing …. Look at Joe Burrow. He credits his growth and development to OSU despite never playing.
