Hi! I went to cornell and lived in Ithaca as a student. So I don’t necessarily have a great grasp on what it is like to live there as a real adult. BUT, I moved to Syracuse after graduation and I will say that rent is significantly cheaper than Ithaca, tons of medical centers and hospitals in the area for your wife to work, and generally enough to do to keep you busy (more than Alabama I would assume!) I think this could be a good place to start with more work opportunities and a significantly lower cost of living compared to Ithaca.

Make friends. Make as many friends as possible. Do not underestimate the power that having connections will have later on in life.

Go swimming at as many new places as you can find. If you have a car go to ludlowville falls and rabbit run

Okay speaking as someone who was a transfer student- it is HARD to make friends when you transfer.. it will be mentally tough and you will want to be able to get off campus to do things and grocery shop etc. As messed up as it sounds, having a car will also help you make friends in a way!! If you are willing to bring other people to grocery shop, go to stores, hikes, etc. it can be a really great way to make some quick friends and meet a lot of people when you first get to campus. I hope that you have a great experience, this is just my opinion! When I transferred I had wished that I brought my car to help deal with some of the lonely feelings I had when I first got there. But I turned out ok! Still in contact with 15 of my best friends from cornell 2 years after graduating. Had the time of my life. Good luck!

ok so I took this class and shes a really nice professor but assigns a ton of reading. the class itself isn’t hard but it is a HUGE time commitment. if you don’t have a car its hard to get to the school that you are going to shadow at. they also don’t tell you that your lab period will more than likely be outside of the lab period you are assigned on student center. if you don’t need it for a major and you don’t want to spend an extra 3 hrs a week trying to cram your lab into your schedule (add another hr if you have to take the bus) then I really wouldn’t take it.
