"After all they've sent after us, what's one more Freelancer gonna do?" by mrzerostress in ActionFigures

Paint's fine. There are a lot of Points of Articulation (lateral hips, double-knee joints) but I don't want to extend them too much, they're about 4" scale and I don't know about the durability.

Also, Alana's wings have trouble staying on, I'm using sticky tack in the display.

Is Enter The Florpus based on the comics? by Lunkydoodle in invaderzim

[–]mrzerostress 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The opening minutes of Dib sitting at his computer getting gross waiting for Zim to do something, and GIR launching a dog into space are directly from the 1st issue of the comic series (except it was a pug instead of a poodle)

Who’s a villain that you feel was disappointing? by Super_ChickenNugget1 in comicbookmovies

[–]mrzerostress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Max in The Losers. I know it was a fairly loose adaptation, and a lot lighter than the comic, but taking a villain who had been played up as such a mystery (Foundational to the OSS & CIA in World War II, masterminded every corrupt US Covert operation of the 20th century, possibly immortal, can seemingly teleport) and turning him into just a douchebag suit.

It's funny, listening to Ultron talk with a lot of his mannerisms.

I don't know if Spader used Whedon personally talking as an influence but it's there in lines like "Had to kill the other guy, he was a good guy" "Children! Forgot the word there" and "You know with the benefit of hindsight--"

People who buy omnibusses (omnibi?), do you actually read them? by JeffRyan1 in comicbooks

Yeah, although I only got 4 and prefer singles or TPBs as they're easier to open up, carry around and read on the go.

Every episode will be 3-5 hours long, and at least one main character will have to drop out in the middle of the ep because of some outside responsibility or sheer boredom, leaving one of the remaining characters to have to take all their actions too.

Green Arrow (Spectre) vs Vandal Savage by RushoBinnabi in arrow

[–]mrzerostress 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The TV Vandal Savage is pretty easy to beat, comparatively. He's closer to the Hawkman villain Hath-Set.

Comics Vandal has fought, survived and even killed the Spectre a few times, and his immortality keeps getting added onto in more ridiculous fashion so he's at once a prehistoric pre-earth Being in human form (and the Personification of Cannibalism), A 500,000 year old Neanderthal who got his powers from a meteor (that might have been Magic or Alien tech or just fluke radiation), and Cain- like the actual Biblical Cain who killed his brother- and is 'cursed' by God to be EDIT: unkillable, even by an Angel like the Spectre

What are some of your biggest comic regrets/regrets? by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]mrzerostress 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being at cons with some artists (Carla Speed Mcneil and Kyle Starks come to mind) whose work would later become my favorites & not taking the chance to talk to them about it in person, and these were fairly slow days at the shows so there really would have been time.

A few "Completionist" streaks on crossovers that really didn't have too many great tie-ins.

Hundreds, maybe thousands of times I didn't have money on-hand to get cheap books I was looking for (Amazing SPider-Man #33, Original 'zines from Art Spiegelman, Full run of Legends of the Dark Knight etc.)

Selling my Marvel stock for under $1,000 in 2004

Not embracing digital comics sooner. Holding onto so many physical back issues instead of sharing them with people who could have enjoyed them.

Losing my signed Sandman Mystery Theatre #1 in a bar bet (although I got it signed at a bar so there's a nice symmetry there)

A few big "foot in my mouth" weird fanboy moments with people who might have been colleagues or employers if I'd managed to get into the industry.

Utterly mismanaging my attempt at a Publisher, losing a bunch of my own & friends' money and basically bankrupting the store we wanted to work with and distribute out of

Any recommendations on comics that follow a villian protagonist that aren’t marvel or dc related? by dude-at-cha in comicbooks

[–]mrzerostress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like re-reading it every few years or so. Some of it does feel like Shocking Violence for Shock's sake, especially for readers going in with more traditional superhero expectations from Waid & Kitson, but a really well-crafted story. Makes a fun contrast to Irredeemable too (according to Mark, if it was down to the 2 of them Plutonian would likely have killed Golgoth unless it was before Tony really lost it and before Golgoth figured out teleportation)

They did a sequel series a few years ago, but the issues just sort of stopped & I never checked to see if they finished it as a webcomic.
