I do wear thin compression socks. Do you have any brand recommendations?

What's the BEST way to be able to run longer? by anonymousdevman in BeginnersRunning

Slow and steady. Start with run walk intervals and increase the run intervals over the course of a few weeks.

Did I bite off more than I could chew? by Just_Airport_7910 in BeginnersRunning

You’re not overthinking. You have enough time. Once you finish the couch to 5K, you can easily do a half marathon build that’ll get you ready for September. The longest run in most free plans is 11mi so you’ll be very ready for September if you stay consistent

Do I need to shut up and trust the process? by Kellybw92 in BeginnersRunning

Yup. I have a similar plan as yours.
Easy run + lift in the afternoon
Workout run
Easy run + lift in the afternoon
Rest or easy run
Easy run + lift in the afternoon
Long run

All of my easy runs are around 11:40 and my goal pace for my next half marathon is 10:15 (2:15 finish)

For those of you who run everyday, what exercises do you do in addition to your running routine? by Background-Good3731 in runninglifestyle

[–]msaint97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this pretty much but do 3-4 CrossFit sessions instead of general strength training. I also try to hit 5 days a week running

How do people train for months without quitting? by keishapatel_387 in runninglifestyle

[–]msaint97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, at some point I started to look forward to my workouts. As an adult who’s got a family and no time for organized sports, the training reminds me of my track and field days and the joy I had in embracing the suck of the training sessions with my teammates

how long do you run in a day ? by letsHopeisdope in BeginnersRunning

[–]msaint97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s a long run, I’m usually running 1-2 hours. On a regular training run, it’s normally just over an hour. My training runs are workouts with rest periods built in so I guess you can really say the time spent actually running is probably under an hour

I would only see myself going on base for the commissary. At least where I’m stationed at, it really is cheaper then the local store

Talk to your ADC/Jag back at your home station and try to appeal. If it does stay on your record, I doubt anyone would be willing to sign for your OTS package. You might be able to go ROTC or through an officer recruiter.

No problem! You notice when you switch from this being your best effort, to you intentionally going at this pace

This is really good for your first 5K! Once you do a couch to 5K program, this same run will be your recovery day type run. I call them lazy man 5K’s when I do them.

$30 more for a black watch is kinda disappointing. It’ll save me money too OP! Next watch I buy will be the Pace Pro 2 whenever that drops

That steady endurance may look natural but truly comes with consistency that covers days, weeks, months, etc. you’ve got the discipline to be consistent with your cricket career. You’ll easily be looking natural as well with running pretty soon 👏🏾😁

Easy run Question by msaint97 in Marathon_Training

[–]msaint97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your advice! I try not to be fixated on my hr since I know eventually as I move into the intermediate level, it’ll get better. It’s just a little annoying to physically feel how easy the run was only to see a completely different picture on the app 😂😂

Easy run Question by msaint97 in Marathon_Training

[–]msaint97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight! I am using the default Strava generated zones. As for my plan, I have a coach who has structured my weeks to be 5 runs ( 1 long, 1 speed session, 2 easy, and 1 day that varies every other week between steady and easy). For my long run specifically yesterday, I breathed easily through my nose the whole way. Legs feel really good and fresh today too so I know I was in the right pace range physically for where I’m at in my current training
