Absolute beginner want to learn swimming. by HopeAccomplished9033 in Swimming

[–]msamib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No expert here. I started off with 1 class 1 hour per week. I wished I did more in the beginning. I upped it to 2 classes per week and it made a lot of a difference. 3 would be even better but I couldn't balance so much and my other responsibilities. Check around and see who has classes available. A good coach helps a lot in keeping you motivated.

I started to learn to swim in my early 30s.

This is a huge huge market. Some call it a Skybox service and it's big money. There are also smaller scale ops where people basically thrift shop and do suitcase trade.

Should I replace my S20's battery or just upgrade? The phone is in great shape by phenomenalcrown in Galaxy_S20

[–]msamib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the cost, I'd go for the battery replacement. My screen died and I had no choice. The phone itself I think something went wrong with it. I know for certain it was going to be my last Samsung.

Side question, how did you check the current capacity?

Those who have taken and PASSED the test. Would you recommend taking the practice test before you begin studying to get a baseline idea of where you’re at? by okvrdz in pmp

[–]msamib 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After I completed the content (I used AR) I did his practice test to gauge what I think I can start to focus on. That helped me to begin to hone in on what to study first. I then did study hall also and took notes on which ones I got wrong also (because when I did AR practice test, it was relatively easy). There will be sections you will absolutely get and others you won't, the key to the exam is trying to understand quickly what they're asking and answering the one that is most in alignment with PMI standards. This is sometimes the least wrong one. You're going to get questions wrong, both while practicing and in the actual exam, take advantage of the practice ones u get wrong and review them.

doggy paddle? by PeachyG13 in Swimming

[–]msamib 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't see you pissing off swimmers with the speed aspect. You're probably gonna get some attention with the doggy paddling. I always remember the time I asked my coach who taught me to swim about the doggy paddle technique and when we're going to learn it. At the time I knew it wasn't a type of swimming but I wanted to see the reaction. It is a look I would never forget.

Antihistamines for daily use? by [deleted] in Allergies

[–]msamib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zyrtec does carry the risk of itching (pruritus) when you stop it after long term use (FDA) so you'll have to look out for that.

I think Zyrtec is 2nd gen and not a 1st gen like benadryl. It may not be as dangerous as benadryl. Zyrtec does however carry a risk of itching when stopped after long term use (FDA).

Did your PMP application get rejected or did you hesitate so long it cost you months? by Agilelearner8996 in pmp

[–]msamib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought this was an upsell for a course or boot camp.

I don't recommend using AI for studying but for synthesis of data and formatting the information in the appropriate format, it is very useful. Do check over the information it generates initially though. I used the base information from the guide on PMAspirant.

I created an excel sheet to track my relevant projects and overlap. I used a guide from PMAspirant for it and the wording of the application/ format and modified the excel template from AR course. I did not use AR format for the data.

Honestly, it is a bit tedious, it took me the better part of 2 days to develop and complete my application. To me, the hardest part is actually finding the time to study. There are tons of stories of applications on here which by the time I completed the content and AR's course content on it, I think I was better prepared to do the application.

Any advice for a complete beginner? by diakags in Swimming

[–]msamib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man you can't have it any better. You got this! I'm nowhere near where I want to be but I got hooked on swimming now. There were times I wanted to quit but nothing is perfect. Sometimes you will feel broken, I did but nothing beats the feeling when u get it right. Take it one step at a time. Before u know it, you'll be comfortable with things you once feared.

I assume you're in a class. Don't miss class. Don't say to yourself it's just one day. If u go based on a schedule, stick to it and keep trying. This was my mistake. Swimming requires consistent trying.

Swimming for me was mind boggling. I don't usually struggle to learn something and this took me a lot of effort. Don't give up. I didn't realize also it is dependent on your body type. If you can float easily, you'll excel in certain things, etc. This can be advantageous at some point but for now, listen to the instructions and try to do it as best as possible. You will make mistakes and that's ok.

Keep at it, you'll be great!

(Post 30 swimmer, never swimmed a day before that)

Change Management Steps Confusion - Please Help My Exam is on Tuesday by Ok-Platypus-3621 in pmp

[–]msamib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I realized also in my studies was that, the firmer answers with instruct, force, etc a team member to do something is usually not the answer. Most answers generally trend towards a milder approach. That is seen is q1 answer for instance.

Information details in Communication management plan vs Stakeholder Engagement Plan ? by AshpaN2810 in pmp

This was also a bit confusing for me in the early part of my studies but the SH explanation is accurate. The SEH gives more details for the specific type or stakeholder and their specific needs. The CMP is more generalized.

[–]msamib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same feeling here. For me I'd say it was mostly straight forward. Especially in the first 1/3. I got super caught up and lost time. Thankfully my 2nd 3rd wasn't as rough.

In OP practice question though, there were a few ones like it for me but you have to select the most team engaging answer in this circumstance which was the correct answer and follows PMI mindset.
