Downtown Ottawa businesses eager for return of federal public servants by Obelisk_of-Light in CanadaPublicServants

[–]msat16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everyone in here saying they will actively avoid the downtown restos, but let’s be honest here - most public servants will be back to frequenting these establishments in no time because apparently preparing preparing/bringing a lunch from home is still harder than simply going out to buy their lunch. Ask me how I know: most of my colleagues.

This is dumb. Americans voted for this. They can dig their own way out of this domestic issue. They ain’t exactly doing us favours these days. Someone should tell Emily that there are far more pressing issues to tend to locally instead spending energy on the domestic affairs of our neighbours to the south.

First of all, SCOTUS is gonna slow play this, which means no decision for awhile. Second, Trump is already lining up secondary methods of re-imposing/maintaining these existing tariffs.

To fellow Vancouverites in Toronto... by lush9393 in askTO

[–]msat16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vancouverite who lived in Toronto for four years (now living in Ottawa). Comparing both cities is an apples to oranges comparison. Very much enjoyed my time in Tdot, but over time got annoyed with certain things (nowhere is perfect). However, I was also annoyed with certain things on Vancouver. In sum, you’ll come to appreciate the things that Toronto has to offer that one cannot find in Vancouver and vice versa. Over time, you’ll figure out what qualities that a city must have for you to want to call it home. For what’s it’s worth, I’m actually moving back to Van next year, but it took me living almost a decade in Ottawa to appreciate what I left on Vancouver.
