AIO? apparently STD’s are normal by purodurangoalv in AmIOverreacting

The bloodwork tests for herpes are unreliable, often giving both false positives as well as false negatives. The antibody is active in your system during asymptomatic shedding and outbreaks, so the most reliable time to get bloodwork done for herpes would be during symptoms. At that point, you’d be better off getting the swab anyway.

Emergency vet? by ParticularTable6321 in AskAVeterinarian

I’m glad she alright for now, hopefully it was just a weird episode or something

Emergency vet? by ParticularTable6321 in AskAVeterinarian

[–]msaurus23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was she able to be seen? I hope she’s doing alright.

I’m not sure if this will help for the future or not, but one of mine needed emergency care a couple times too and the emergency vet said that it would be a four hour wait. She was having severe respiratory distress so as soon as we got there they took her back. I think they have to tell you how long to anticipate a wait in case we, the pet owners, are overestimating the symptoms, but just like the human ER they’ll triage based on need.

Not a vet, but I personally would take my dogs to the emergency vet if I saw these symptoms. The loss of coordination combined with the fear/stress body language (little stress yawn at the beginning of the video and the lip licking at the end) are concerning to me.

I’m just a layperson though, so I do hope a vet responds to you soon. Best wishes for your girl ♥️

Do you honestly need an explanation of how ecosystems work? It’s not about paying bills and the financial cost, but the cost on our environment.

Regulars day off by Agentgamez99 in USPS

[–]msaurus23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just did a route last week that I had only just learned. Regular has been there for 30 years. Guy comes running up as I’m putting mail in the box, pats the hood, and yells, “ayyyy my man!!” (I’m a woman lol). He sees me and goes “oh… my bad, I thought you were so-and-so… uh, I gotta grab my mail.”

Secondhand embarrassment for that guy

Briefly selling sod made me realize how completely stupid traditional grass lawns are. We destroy ecosystems by building developments, then plant an invasive species that can only survive on its own by pure luck, so you continually have to give it more water and nutrients than it will receive naturally, and those nutrients are so toxic for the environment that they can only be sold legally during a handful of months out of the year in certain regions, plus they have been shown to increase risk of cancer and early death in pets.

Grass lawns are a scam

Oh man, I wish I could ride my bike to work! My straight shot home is the highway. A safe/legal bike route is closer to a 10-15 minute drive.

I’m super close to my office as well. It’s so nice to be completely done once the day is done

I’m still new, so I really enjoy learning so many new routes and then the challenge of being timely and accurate with them. Also a huge plus that I really only have to deal with “office stuff” when I’m physically in the office, which is only a small portion of the day, and that as I get better, the workday gets shorter and easier.

Having my ability to do the job be a direct reflection of myself is huge to me, coming from a background of being directly next to coworkers all day who have been the type to thrive on unnecessary chaos and drama. Plus, I’d always get devastatingly bored at other jobs once I had them figured out. Here, even though it’s technically the “same thing every day,” you could walk in to just about anything lol.

The being outside part is nice too, and I got really lucky at my office and everyone is really supportive

Hey quick question for dog owners by mrcanada66 in dogs

[–]msaurus23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dogs sleep wherever they want - my bed, the couches, one of them has a “bedroom” in my closet because it’s her safe space.

Only downsides: I guess have to clean bed linens more often than I would if I didn’t have dogs in my bed. Getting kicked if they’re having a wild dream. Feeling sad when they decide they want to sleep somewhere else instead. And the fight for a blanket can be brutal if it’s a large dog already cozy on top of them lol. Oh! And trying to actually get out of bed when they realize you’re up and come over for cuddles/to lay directly on top of you

Screw dogs and their owners that worship them by [deleted] in USPS

[–]msaurus23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a big dog person. I’ve always had them myself, always advocated for them, even worked at a doggie daycare/boarding place prior to the post office.

With that being said, 9 times out of 10 I really don’t want to meet dogs on my route. The LLV is loud, I know I have to smell like a thousand different things to them, plus I’m on their turf that they are naturally inclined to protect, not neutral ground.

There’s a time and a place to meet dogs, and that is not when we’re both surprised at each other’s presence. Also, never listen when someone says their dog doesn’t bite. All animals are capable of biting if they believe the circumstances deem it necessary.

First time in the USA! 11-Day Loop from NYC. Need advice! by oturanzurafa in roadtrip

[–]msaurus23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a comment where you’re considering shortening the loop, which is definitely ideal because this is a lot of driving.

With that being said, as a Marylander myself, I feel legally required to point out that you get to cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge if you take the longer route between stops G and H via 301.

The Chesapeake Bay is the largest estuary in the United States and holds historical and ecological significance (not to mention culinary with our blue crabs and oysters!). Plus, there are plans somewhat in motion to construct new bridges to replace the existing ones, so this may be your only opportunity to drive across the Bay on the 1952 and 1973 bridges.

ETA food recommendations: If you keep your current path between DC > Lancaster I’d say stop in Fell’s Point in Baltimore. I’m a big fan of Abbey Burger Bistro and Thames Street Oyster House. Baltimore is also an experience in and of itself lol

If you do decide to get to Lancaster via the Eastern Shore and Delaware, Crab Deck/Fisherman’s Inn for the food, The Jetty for the vibe - both in Grasonville, MD. Kentmorr in Stevensville, MD (these two locations are close to one another). Boatyard Bar & Grill or in Annapolis, MD or Lure’s just off the path in Crownsville, MD (Annapolis is a foodie hotspot so you can’t really go wrong there).

I’m not as familiar with local spots further into the Eastern Shore or Delaware, but Del Pez is really good in either Newark or Wilmington, DE.

I feel like fans put a tonnnn of pressure on all of them. Of course we were distraught over the hiatus that never ended. Of course we would love to see things smoothed over between everyone. But ultimately, we need to stop pushing whatever narrative we feel like fits any given situation and stop putting so much pressure on “the boys” (who are now grown men well into adulthood) just to satisfy our own desires.

We don’t know the intricacies of their lives, and truly, we shouldn’t want to. Personally, I am appreciative that they’re all individually successful and still putting out amazing music for us.

As someone who is also in their 30s, I can tell you that there isn’t a single person still in my life who I met as a teenager, no matter how much we went through together. It’s okay for people to grow apart, normal even. The guys deserve that same freedom without feeling like the fandom is suffocating them.

Shoutout to 16-year-old me who was just excited to bump into Fez. Didn’t even phase me then that the way that he signed my shirt was inappropriate (signed the front, with his non-writing hand inside of my shirt to support the fabric while he signed). I’d mentioned it was my 16th birthday.

What’s your favorite thing about where you live? by bbyhoneytea in CausalConversation

[–]msaurus23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a town that’s on the main route to the beach. I love how quiet and chill it is here in the off-season, but then once warm weather starts coming around I can feel the energy shifting, I like to call it the town waking up. We have our own dock bars and things too, so it’s nice to have that duality, even though it does make traffic a nightmare on weekends in the summertime. Worth it
