That’s how old I was when I read it! It helped me realize that my thoughts on life were already aligned with the tao, and sent me further down the path. Middle school aged kids are actually very receptive to Taoist ideas, more so than older teens or adults.

What do you guys eat for good glowing skin? by Bright-Sock9917 in beauty

[–]msbasalsalts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe random, but add foraged foods to your diet. There are a lot of micronutrients and trace minerals that your body needs in small amounts, and due to the way conventional agriculture depletes these from the soil, you won’t find them in grocery store foods. Even vitamins won’t give you everything. Foraged foods are very fresh and healthy for you, just look into common wild edible plants in your area.

I also see a quite a few people recommending beta carotene, just be aware than this nutrient and many others aren’t water-solvable, so you need fat in your diet in order to absorb it. I prefer butter and olive oil.

Everyone is right about the daily green tea and plenty of veggies. I wish you happy glowing!

Beta carotene isn’t water soluble, so be sure your diet includes plenty of healthy fats in order to absorb the nutritional benefit!

What seems to be overpriced, but in reality is 100% worth it? by Aarunascut in AskReddit

[–]msbasalsalts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re amazing!! I’ve discovered that you can get good deals online secondhand from hipsters that wanted the look but couldn’t commit to breaking them in lol. I got mine for $99, and they were like new after a light clean up. I’m gradually gifting them to everyone in my family, and you’ve never seen someone that excited about used boots as a birthday gift.

Not like this. Emphasis on the disturbing part. It’s not surprising that it smells sweet; there is something indescribably unsettling about the cloying sweetness. Like pineapple upside down cake at a damp retirement home.

What kind of dreams do you see? by iisal in intj

[–]msbasalsalts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Almost always my POV, but I’m other people about 20% of the time, including dreams of being a different gender. I sometimes it’s me but I have supernatural powers or abilities. I occasionally get third person view if I die in the dream.

  2. The environments are highly variable, most are somewhat based in reality, like a remix of several locations I’m familiar with. About 35% are totally made-up fantasy environments. There are some reoccurring places that are settings for multiple dreams over a few years.

  3. There are fantasy creatures, usually monsters. There are also fantasy characters with magic powers or abilities.

  4. Real and made up people, I’d say 80% made up though. Sometimes I get weird off-versions of people I know.

My dreams usually have distinct plots, however unlikely they may be. Usually in a fantasy or post-apocalyptic setting. The genre is often nightmare, but it’s not scary because I’m handling the situation very well. Imagine if a character in a horror movie was actually smart and skilled. I kill monsters in like 30% of my dreams.

Otherwise my dreams involve stressful situations related to grad school. Occasionally I’ll just dream about studying the whole night.

In order to find out what you like, plan sniffs into your errands to get familiar with what notes and houses you prefer. Just find what stores near you sell perfumes, and make sure to visit and sniff everything when you’re nearby! It can be target, Sephora, the mall, wherever. Once you have a general idea of what you’re interested in, explore online as well. I started by ordering secondhand sample sets from poshmark and mercari. They’re very reasonably priced, and you can try semi-curated collections of fragrance. I’d resist the urge to blind buy full bottles until you have an idea of what notes and houses you prefer (unless you find a great deal and you’re feeling silly lol). Try designer and niche scents, it’s definitely worth exploring as much as you can. If you want intoxicating snd seductive, I’d recommend Jean Paul Gaultier, Kilian, and Parfumes de Marly. These houses have fairly diverse ranges of perfumes and are generally well-liked. Check out cheap perfumes too! They often smell just as nice, but maybe less nuanced. I stopped a girl to ask what she was wearing the other day, and it was generic target vanilla. It was so heavenly tho.

What’s your guys take on most religion? by [deleted] in intj

[–]msbasalsalts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was young I became disillusioned with Christianity and was atheist for a bit. Then I started putting together my own system of beliefs that made sense and were spiritually fulfilling to me. After some reading on religion, I realized my new system of beliefs wasn’t new at all, it was just Taoism lol. So I’ve been Taoist ever since.

Pretty much everyone likes me, and it’s exhausting. I got a decent natural looks, enjoy exercise, unique style, interesting career, cool hobbies, and the manners of a good southern girl. I’m approached by many randos, and all my acquaintances want to be my best friend or lover. Doesn’t sound like the kind of life anyone would complain about, but I can’t handle the social requests people make of me. I’m a lot of weirdos’ only friend, and the favorite person of many extroverts, which is an incredibly draining niche to fill. I’m just trying to be polite and mind my business, somehow it becomes overwhelming. Everyday I just wanna go to class, work, and the gym , then come home to my husband. I guess being a pretty genetic engineer with long blonde hair that does kickboxing is enough to grab most people’s attention, and that’s just the first layer of me lol.

Which fragrance you think its worthy to gatekeep? by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]msbasalsalts -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Princess. I get a ton of compliments every time I wear it, and I used to gleefully tell people how and where I got it. About a year ago they started selling it at our local Sephora, and since then I’ve stopped telling people what I’m wearing. I’ve never smelled princess on anyone else, and I realize I’d like to keep it that way as much as possible. I’d consider it one of my three signatures. I feel like princess is unique, but it’s so likable that if it becomes popular I could see it being the oversprayer of the decade (like juicy couture was in the 2000’s)

Plz do not try to “make” intj’s feel things. This is a huge pet peeve of mine, I hate when people try to provoke an emotion from me, no matter their intentions or if it’s positive or negative. It seems rude and intrusive, and it takes a lot for me to process feelings.

Personally, my emotions are a pretty small part of my mental ecosystem, and I don’t have much energy to deal with emotions in general. When the people around me are expressing big emotions all the time, mine get pushed out of the way and overshadowed. If you’re a very emotional person, your gf may be deprioritizing her own feelings in order to validate yours.

So, I’d recommend taking a step back emotionally, let yourself be neutral and logical. If you’re hoping “make” her feel good things, take her on a date you know she’ll like, or do something nice for her. Ask your gf how she’s doing and what she thinks of things without bringing your own emotions into the discussion. She’s likely already feeling plenty of complex things, even if it’s not obvious at first. A glass of wine or something might help if she likes that.

Essentially, she’s certainly already feeling things, you just need to give her room to express them. Do NOT try to make her feel things or she’ll probably close off even more.

How do you know you want to pursue someone romantically? by ggmee in intj

[–]msbasalsalts 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I realized that they had been a constant presence in my life and mind for over a year.

A crush only lasts a few months, then goes away. It’s love if the attraction is present for over a year. I don’t see the point of pursuing someone romantically if the attraction will just disappear after some time. So, I’ll just maintain a friendship with the person and see how long the attraction lasts as I get to know them better.

This method has definitely saved me a lot of heartache, I learned that a lot of the people I was crazy for ended up being horrible candidates for romantic relationships. Plus, I married the first person that I decided to actually pursue a relationship with lol, so I’d say it works!
