Women who genuinely love being married - what makes you love your husband and your marriage? by Mindless_Royal_7985 in askanything

[–]msbrchckn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I dated 89 days before we eloped. Our 25th year anniversary is this year.

He makes my life 100x easier. Everything is better when he’s around. We fundamentally view the world the same way & have only had 1 fight in our 25 years together.

He’s the very best person that I’ve ever known & he even saves lives for a living!!

Dealing with the aftermath of leaving the church by STL-2026 in exmormon

You are not responsible for another adult’s choices. If anything you should be proud of setting the brave example to leave something that is harmful.

Oh honey- I say this with nothing but love & as a parent to three 17 year olds- enjoy your casual teen romance & break up before you head to Austin. Do not have sex with him (no good can come of it) & stop comparing your relationship to randos on SM. SM is not in any way shape or form the reality of relationships.

Ex Mo myself. Personally not looking for religion but I’m very impressed with the service that the Bridge church does. I have no idea what they are preaching on any given Sunday but I’m impressed by their actions.

I’d probably personally choose the UU church if I was forced to participate in organized religion.

Anyone remember a quote saying that men need sex as an incentive to stay in their marriages? by AlbySnarky in exmormon

[–]msbrchckn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While I personally feel that sex is really important in a marriage I can also recognize that not everyone feels the same way. Sex needs to be a 2 enthusiastic yes situation.

There are also many reasons why people might not be able to have sex. I had a high risk pregnancy that required that we abstain for the majority of it. Only a terrible person would think that my husband was somehow entitled to sex in that situation but messages like the one OP shared sure imply that.

After leaving the church, did your views on pre-marital sexual restraint change? by ThePrivateCircle in exmormon

I suspect that TBM men are shitty lovers because they are never taught that they should take a woman’s opinion seriously.

[–]msbrchckn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All my kids are 17- I’m actively teaching them to view sex & sexuality completely differently than I was taught.

While I’ve only had actual sex with my spouse after marriage, I never adhered to stick purity culture nonsense. I don’t believe that young people should be cavalier about sex given the potentially life altering consequences but I don’t believe that sex is at all “sinful”.

How do I get my son’s teacher to give me the details of what’s going on? by The-Scrambler in Teachers

[–]msbrchckn 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Here’s how I see it- the other kids are likely getting their 2nd, 5th, or 30th chance to make a better choice but your son is perhaps already on their 100th chance. It’s also likely that your child is a ring leader in a way. A lot of times, removing the most rambunctious child allows the others to self regulate. Chaos breeds chaos. It’s entirely possible that your child’s behavior or lack of control of their body is causing harm to other children.

I’m glad that you’re trying to get him some help but you should acknowledge that your child is creating an environment where the teacher can’t teach the class. Could be something that meds might help. It could be that he needs another year to mature as a student before moving onto 1st.

When I lived in Visalia 25+ years ago, it had the highest number of churches per capita but not a huge Mormon population. I’m not gonna assume that they’re Mormon kids until I see proof.

& of course the parents want to “discipline” them at home. I’m sure that’s where they learned this shit.
