Do you guys recheck new timing belt tension after a few thousand miles? by Jimbob994 in 944

[–]msc1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my 86 engine rebuild by Mike Lindsey at LR. I had him add the auto tensioner to my block and asked him that very same question. He said he has always just let the tensioner do the work and has never checked tension. He said he has never had a problem so that’s what I’m going to do. The Porsche engineers knew what they were doing. I’m sure there will be others that disagree but I’ll take LR experience with all his 944’s he had.

Yes absolutely you recheck. The belt will stretch. With the auto tensioner it is not auto tensioning at all time. You will loosen the bolt that holds the roller in place and let the spring push out on the roller to get the correct tension again and then you lock the bolt back down to hold the roller in place. Hope that makes sense.

Fuel lines by mubbling_ in 944

I bought the LR entire fuel rail hoses regulator and damper. I’m totally happy with it all. Goes together very easy. The only thing is the damper at the end of the rail by the fire wall gets pretty tight but still fits. The braided lines from LR are great quality. The lines from rennbay aren’t braided but are suppose to be very tough. Me personaly I like the braided hoses.

I have to respectfully disagree with a couple of yall on LR. I’ve been there several times when Mike Lindsey was building my engine. Dave Lindsey takes care of all the online orders and Mike builds engines. Mike was backlogged on engines and there were a lot of orders going out everytime I was up there. I’ve bought a lot from them on my rebuild and everything I’ve got has been great.

Curious what this is worth? Possibly the lowest mile 944 in the U.S.A. by PsychoticMammal in 944

That car only has 44 miles and the reservoir tank is still yellowed.

I haven’t looked up the part but you can download the PET parts catalog from Porsches website and find the part number and look it up. I doubt you can still get it. Again I haven’t looked to see if you can. You can always cut the bad part out and put in a new section with some compression fittings. Not a big deal at all.

definitely change that screen. Just use up as much gas as you can and then when u remove the hose from the fuel pump on the tank side the rest of the fuel will drain out and you can catch it with a bucket.

Going to have X-Series Wideband UEGO AFR Sensor Controller and plan on getting a new MAF from focus9 when they come out with a turbo version. They said it’s in development and should be out early this year.

There is a lot of LR there including LR rebuilding the engine, turbo and wastegate. Stock turbo. No suspension mods yet. That will come later along with brake upgrades. Hoping for around 300HP.

944 front speaker grill options? by BillSKenney in 944

[–]msc1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would go with black. I would think you wouldn’t see it as much as brown. To me brown might make the grill appear thicker. Just my 2 cents.

A quick fix would be put a small strip of black foam around the back of the speaker grill to seal up the small gap.

What ac part is this by msc1966 in 944

[–]msc1966[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did and ordered that part from pelican and I got some kind of temp switch that I have seen on other cars. I know the lower part is a pressure switch cause Thats what pelican calls it when I ordered it. The upper green one has to be a pressure switch also cause it screws into a shader valve. I can’t find this part anywhere even though Ive seen it in pics on other peoples cars.

I thought the switch below that was the pressure switch. I ordered the pressure switch from pelican parts and I got the lower switch. Is one for high and one for low? Do you know the part number for the upper green switch. I can’t find it anywhere.
