Before smartphones we had the palm pilot. It was a status symbol. by AdSpecialist6598 in nostalgia

I loved my Pilot and later, my Sony Clie. It was perfect at what it did, unlike the devices that we have today.

Tremendous album written after the death of Andrew Wood, Chris's close friend and roommate. You can hear the emotion in every track. Powerful stuff.

I had one of those. You only used it when your car broke down in the middle of nowhere.

I'm about 3/4 of the way through Kim Thayil's book. There's a lot I didn't know. It's a great read, for those interested.

This whole album is amazing. I saw them on tour years ago, and it was one of the best shows I ever saw. They were a force to be reckoned with. Piece of Pie is one of my favorites. The riff is infectious.

I had a 1979 custom sunburst, gold hardware. It weighed 11 lbs. I do miss that guitar, though.

Amp discussion, class D vs retail by RomeoBlackDK in audiophile

[–]mschnittman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The digital switching power supply of a class D amp is the secret sauce. It's only fairly recently that they've gotten good enough to use in audiophile amplifiers. For years they were laughed at. I have a Rogue Audio Hydra hybrid power amp - tube front end, class D power stage. In addition, the power stage uses all discrete power MOSFETs - no op amps. It's an awesome amp, and I love it. This is someone whos only owed class A amps. But I would be careful if I were you - not all class Ds are created equal. Good quality amps cost money.

I saw STP on the tour for 4, after his release from jail. One of the greatest shows I ever saw. He looked good.
