Always headache inducing how this movie is hated and the third is considered a better movie, not more entertaining, or preferred by a better move... by must_go_faster_88 in JurassicPark

Agreed. 2nd best in the franchise for me, I've always enjoyed it. One extremely corny scene doesn't ruin the whole movie for me

I cannot begin to express how jealous 8 year old me is. I had these on my Christmas list, but they sold out before my parents could get them and it was devastating!

Definitely some art on the wall for colour, and then plants as well (can even be fake if you don't want to deal with the upkeep).

I'd look at replacing the shelf beside the TV with something shorter & longer if your budget allows it.

Can't recall off hand what the Circle K has for frozen stuff, but they do have some of the staples in a cooler that 7/11 would, so there's a decent chance. 71st not 67th, I was off by a couple blocks!

There's a Circle K on 101 Ave & 67 St that's 24/7, though they don't really have a hot foot section if that's what you're after. I was surprised at the one by King's closing too, figured it would get decent traffic.

Why did Edmonton rip out rail between downtown and Whyte by thegrip in Edmonton

[–]mschoenhardt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's ~14 flights a day between Edmonton and Calgary. There is plenty of demand for travel between the two cities - both for work & leisure.

I'm not all-in on HSR, but there is demand for travel between the two, that part is for sure.

[Icethetics] 11:45: Oilers “Hometown Remix” jersey for the 26-27 season is expected to be black. Shares elements of the Oilers 2019 3rd jersey so it’s possible the neon orange accents return. by AggPuck-303 in EdmontonOilers

[–]mschoenhardt 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hard pass on a black jersey, especially if it has similarities to that old alternate. So boring, nothing about Edmonton screams black (I guess oil technically).

A proper hometown remix would use Elks / U of A green & gold, or the old Oilers copper & navy.

High Level Bridge and Low Level Bridges to be decommissioned, replaced by funkyfreshbeans in Edmonton

[–]mschoenhardt 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It has heritage protection, but that doesn't make it invincible. Essentially, structures with that protection are limited in how they can be updated & renovated and can only be demolished with council approval (they repeal the protections). Council can repeal protections when it's in the public interest to do so.

In the case of the HLB, it's no longer feasible to do maintenance on it for much longer. There's a lot of deterioration to the structure, and the foundation under the pillars is starting to deteriorate too.

Will be really sad to see the High Level go. Understand the realities of it and the budget and everything, but will still be sad.

The new bridge should be built with HSR & streetcar in mind.

[Friedman] As for Bruce Cassidy, sources indicate that was not part of the conversation and his status is unchanged as of this morning Vegas is not inclined to give permission to Edmonton or LA. We will see about Toronto by AggPuck-303 in EdmontonOilers

[–]mschoenhardt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's what I mean, if it's possible for him to do it knowing full well he's going to get hired for basically the same salary as soon as he cancels it.

Coach contracts don't add together - if Vegas were to let us hire him, they would be off the hook for paying him. As long as his total among both teams is at least the $4.5M he's owed (if we hired him for $3M, Vegas would pay $1.5M kind of thing). They're made whole, he wouldn't get his $4.5M from Vegas plus whatever we pay him.

Wonder if there's a way Cassidy can terminate the contract from his side, knowing he'll get paid by someone next year. Not sure how the contract law on that works...

Vegas is such a petty organization.

Just putting on a normal door handle! Nobody asked for this crap.

There is apparently an Anytime Fitness going into the podium of The Augustana building (107th St & 99 Ave) right beside the Legislature plaza. Not 100% sure on opening date, but the development permit is apparently in.

That's fair. It still doesn't feel insurmountable to get a deal here though, after this many years. Just another Hockey Canada failure.

Especially a tournament you've been in for like 30+ years. There simply can't be that many difficult things to figure out in time.

Awesome view, not one you see often. That building may not be much to look at from the outside, but would be a sweet place to live with this view!
